If it is new I really don't think you'll have a problem. None of the tools are nail breakers on a well maintained swiss champ, but the chisel on the back or awl might be the hardest to extract. It is a well designed tool, all the tools are placed in ways that are accessible. (For example, the inline phillips is often difficult to extract on a Wenger, I've never had that problem on a Vic though.)With a used champ, it really depends on how well it was maintained. They can be nail breakers but almost always can be brought back to opening with ease with some cleaning and lubing.
Sometimes I turn the knife around and use my pointer finger nail to access the main blade A little awkward at first but it does the job
Use my LM to open the SC

I use the left-side of my right thumbnail to open SAK blades. I never realised that until I just took notice after reading this thread.I used to bite my nails until they hurt though, and can't recall any issues opening my Swiss champ.Just get one and have done with it

Right thumbnail for every other nail nick I have ever used, including the SwissChamp, which is easy with short nails. Old Soldiers (pre '61) are the hardest ones I ever tried. Also, 93mm springs are a little stiffer than 91's by comparison, so if you can open a Pioneer, a SwissChamp should be no problem.
