TOS. The original is still the best.

TNG: I consider it a close second to TOS and the best of the new series.

Enterprise: great premise, bad execution.

Deep Sleep Nine: enough said.

Voyager: meh

Another TNG fan here (although I enjoy all the series really).

Perhaps taking a shot at Trek right now, on its 50th birthday is in bad for, but I have a question.

I'm on Season 4, Episode 9 and I have to wonder why the hell they don't just install a revolving door to the Dark Universe?  I mean they seem to come and go to the alternate dimension about as often as Morn goes to Quark's.

They really don't.

The Mirror'verse is a "uh,,, we're stuck... quick, hairbrain ideas, we need a script in 24 horus and we've got nothing for the main arc" mcguffin. A mcguffin that I really like.

If you want an in universe theory, remember that all points in time and space for all probabilities are equidistant if you fold it small enough. The Bajor Wormhole, any wormhole really, is a crease in the multiverse by it's very nature. I'd expect leakage here if anywhere

I loved the OG series, TNG too, but my all time favorite is Voyager.

Enterprise is awesome and so is DS9.

They all shine for different reasons.

I just watched an episode of DS9 where Jakes was mind raped by a space cougar.

Yes.

Mind raped.

Space cougar.

Words that I only realize now are words I'd hoped never to have cause to say.

I'm over halfway through Season 6 now and really looking forward to only having one more season aboard DS9 before I kiss it good bye.  I won't say it doesn't gave it's moments, but overall this is a pretty awful series.  They have a perfectly good war going on but instead of writing stories about that, Lira goes back in time to see her mother doinking Gul Dukat and Sisko has dreams about working at a racist newspaper in the 1940's.   ::)

There is probably one whole season's worth of good episodes, but sadly they are spread over seven seasons.

Vic Fontaine?

Really?

Who the heck said DS9 was good?  The only good thing about it is that I'm on Season 7, Episode 16 which means it is almost over.

I am sick of idiocy like Vic Fontaine and the repeated crossovers to the Mirror Universe.  I mean, there's a perfectly good war going on and they are spending their time planning virtual casino heists.   ::)

No wonder the Federation is pudding the war.

The Augments episode?  Yeah, that was seriously cool.  I loved seeing Brent Spiner again!

DS9 wasn't the best, but still better than Voyager. Couldn't quite put my finger on it why, just don't like it. Too cartoony and the do gooder captain and such.

Enterprise was one of the best, too bad it ended so early.

Voyager started off well enough. They never really defined why a light ship was carrying the two superweapons that aren't normally carried while patrolling the edge of what amounts to a DMZ. And they killed off more crew than they had. I've got ways to explain it, in universe, and that is that we are seeing all the truth that is approved to print. The only episode that I actually felt felt "real" even if over the top was Living Witness (s4e23), just based on the simple logistics of how many have died and how often the ship has been broken or abandoned.

Enterprise in later seasons was very good. Unfortunately, the pilot left me so wanting that I never went out of my way to keep up with it until it was in repeats. Time travel is often a sign of "the GM/Author was out of ideas", and the concept of the temporal cold war in the pilot itself... well, I'll let my friend Jean-Luc sum up:

Yeah if I were the captain there would be a lot more dead aliens for stealing my smurf.

Actually there wouldn't be a series because I wouldn't strand my ship to begin with. The premises just bugs me, yeah they had to destroy the machine that could get them home, but what about a time bomb, get home THEN blow it up?

I agree.  Certainly they could have come up with a way to blow up the array two minutes after they were sent home.  And, I'd have made it look like the array was in the process of self destruction so that the Kazon  (which is apparently Delta Quadrant-ese for "Discount Klingon") wouldn't try to land and steal anything before it went boom.

 ::)

But then it would have been a very short series indeed.

I'm a big fan of Seasons 1 & 2 of TOS; Season 3 they weren't even trying. I've become a fan of TNG but it took some doing. Never got into any of the "spin offs" and thought Enterprise, while I thought it could have been great, turned into a big pile of excrement. Loved almost all the movies (save the whales? Picking up God? Really?) even the newest ones.

My understanding was that by season 3 of TOS the studio had decided to take control of the series and put in writers that Roddenberry didn't approve of to save money.  They are the ones that came up with the brilliant storylines like aliens stealing Spock's brain.

In this episode,  Voyager is being threatened by space minnows.

Space minnows.

Yes.  I said space minnows.  That's not a typo as much as I really wish it was.

I really disliked the last episode of Enterprise.  I loved the whole TNG integration, but not as the last episode.  I don't know, just didn't do it for me. :(

In all these years, with all their advancements,  why couldn't someone invent a console that doesn't blow up in someone's face every time the ship hits a bit of space dust?

I'm at the end of Season 3 of Voyager now.  They have just encountered the Borg and Species 8327638.9 or whatever the hell they are called.

I'm looking forward to Kes being beamed into space or something.

Those are optional equipment and cost more than redshirts.

Kes is no worse than any other in the crew, and she's pretty.  :D

Now that she has long hair she is almost passable, but real life has not been kind to her.

That would be my guess.  You don't expose yourself to preteens when you are emotionally stable.
