Anyone know about JNieporte?

Anyone know what happened to him? Last I talked to him was for a trade which he said he was ill and it would be a bit before he could send the package out. That was a little over a month ago. This is in no way bad about me not getting my end yet, I was just curious, does anyone know what's up?

Yes. I messaged him on (March) 16th and asked how his health was.

He mentioned he was hospitalized and that he had a received the package i sent to him.

He hasn't replied to my message and I havent received the Climber he agreed to trade back in Feb-ish.

I have no problem as long as i eventually get it, health is much more important.

I too have a trade pending (for a long time). Hearing that he has medical issues puts things in a new perspective.

Well, it looks like he stopped posting on Bladeforums in January.  But there is a JNieporte from Cincinnati, Ohio on Facebook who I bet is the same one. His Facebook posts are current, so he hasn't been kidnapped by aliens.  I bought a knife or two from him off of Bladeforums, and I think I recall him living in Cincinnati.

I restrained from saying this, but what the hell. I have done a few deals with him in the past. While I did get my tools he seems very hit or miss and he blatantly lied about the tools condition and tried to say he did not know. I think saying its NIB and it turning out to be used and rusted is quite obvious. I gave him the much better end of the deal as well. I was going to get a knife less fuse from him after that and he would not trade it to me unless he got the better end of the deal by a large amount. He sensed I would not do it and he stopped responding to me while staying active elsewhere. I would never even consider doing another deal with him.

Just my experience and opinion on the matter.

When dealing with a member and clearly the deal is stinking its very important to let the community know immediately.  I know we are not quick to jump to conclusions about a member but if it stinks, it stinks.

I think it would be a great idea to call him out on FB.  If this is what it appears to be then he may have done some shady things elsewhere.

We are a very trusting bunch.  Its hard to find fault with other members and even harder to broadcast when a deal is going awry. 

If however a deal is not up to MTO standards then I see no reason to post the status of said deal.  This way others pause any potential deals with that member until a resolution is reached. 

Theres certainly no way to stop scammers but at least we can attempt to limit the scamming. 

I don't know if this person is a scammer but its not a bad thing to let members know as of now he has deals that have not been completed on his end.

This is sad for everyone waiting for deals. JNieporte has some pretty positive feedback in the feedback thread so I assume he's not a scammer. That said, the weight of unfulfilled deals at present is worrying.

Hopefully he's recovering from the health problems mentioned earlier and will fulfill his end of the deals he's done with you all.

Once again hats off to everyone for the measured way you're dealing with this and not turning it into a witch hunt even though many of you are down on your deals.

FWIW, the JNieporte I found on Facebook is well north of Cincinnati in Sydney, Ohio.  He moved there in June, 2015.  He used to live in Cincinnati.  Ah, the wonders of the interweb.
