light mod on Leatherman Wave
on: September 12, 2016, 09:48:09 AM
So first time poster long time reader.

I got myself a Wingman as the first leatherman a few months back. had gerbers and cheap stuff before but was longing for a Leatherman. The issu as always is Taxes in sweden. a Wingman you pay like $28 for in the states we pay $70 for here. apparently shipping is incredbly expensive haha.

But i thought hey lets give my father this one since he could use it and i wanted to get a wave so i got and bought myself a Wave. Had to wait for the Pocket Clip order a few days since i do not enjoy the pouch style of carrying the tool often.

So to get to the point. I am terrible at remembering to take the house keys witth me out, especially if it is something quick i need to do and then my wife goes to the park with the kids and there i am locked out. But there is always one thing i never forget to take with me and that is the Leatherman, so plan was simple, incorporate my house key to the MT.

I dont want to flood the post with huge pictures so i link them and you can see for yourself.

Let me just start to mention that i know i am not the first to do this, ive seen several youtubers do it before but thought it was a great idea.

Sorry for the smurfty pictures, had not much light and shot it with my iPhone.

Took to my old mans former job before retirement and draw up the shape i wanted and used the belt. Even the lockup functions like a charm. The tool i got rid of, well it was the serrated blade. I want that the saw is fantastic at striking firesteels with so wanted to keep that, the file is handy and the knife, well yeah it replace my EDC knife

Everyone have a great day now.

Good job on the modification. I've got a Wave too and I love it. How did your Father like the Wingman? I almost bought one, but then I found a used Wave for the same price.

My Father loves the Wingman. He's truck is filled to the boarder with tools anyway but still he seems to find time to use the Wingman during his day, so i guess it really serves a purpose. He is actually pretty proud about it. Carrying it in his front shirt pocked along with his notepad.

Yeah a Wave would have been cool to get him, Probably will soon enough, just so he can have the extra bits cause i know he could use that.
