Just for reference, that cool Wenger knife is an original 120mm Ranger Series which were never really imported to the US in any great numbers.  I think only two models were officially imported?  Someone will correct me on that no doubt, but they came before the Elseners bought Wenger and the whole line was revamped.  They aren't rare per se, but they are uncommon.  If knives weren't sold in the US market then the numbers were drastically reduced.

While they may be missing some of the cool features of the newer Rangers (like OH opening blades for example) I find them a bit more comfortable to use since the flat scales don't add as much bulk as the newer Evolution type scales.

That is an awesome gift indeed!  :D

When it comes to those cool old Rangers, everyone needs to know!  :D

That is also the frame that the ultimate in tough multitools was built on.

What I really like about the Ranger is the large clip point blade. You don't see those very often!
In fact the only other SAK I have with a large clip point blade is the Mauser. It's nice to add another clip point bladed knife to the collection!

Just to update, I received a package from ThePeacent several days ago but have not opened it.  I sent to him on November 16 (23 days ago), and he has not received it yet.  I am hopeful that it will still get there.  If it does not, I will resend or fund his Paypal account.

The mail is often a bit messed up this time of year.  I don't think there's any reason to panic just yet.

I am enjoying reading this thread even though I was not able to participate this year and I have to say that there is not a SAK that fits in my hand better than an old style Wenger Ranger. I also love the clip points. I want to buy up every one of them that I see but I am teaching myself self control. :ahhh I think you will really enjoy it!

Not that anyone asked, but here is a picture of the one that I own.

I don't think anyone will ever get upset by you showing knife and tool pics.  If there was any risk of that, Chako would have been burned at the stake long ago!  :P

Eaglette I has landed, and is equally as awesome. o.o

In the first package, that customs took longer with, for whatever reason (:D), there is a Varde norsk design camping knife/kit, which is a multiple-piece tool.  It includes a neat fork and spoon that slide into the scales of a lockback knife, which is further equipped with a corkscrew and a combination older-style can opener and bottle opener.  The sheath incorporates an interesting metal hook, I presume for ALICE packs(?), in addition to a traditional loop-style belt loop.

Between the camp kit and card lies a HUGSBY-brand XP-1 AAA flashlight, which I have already tested and seems to enjoy my preferred Lithium batteries, so definite score there.

And last but not least, is a HH-specific variant of the Boker Plus TechTool 1, which is awesome as anything.  I love the red scales and the glassbreaker tip is a nice touch, too.  I find it interesting that the blade tang reads 12C27, which I thought was the same steel used in the Kershaw Skyline, and several Mora knives; I would've thought it would use, say 7 or 8Cr-something another.  I think I know which knife will be seeing pocket time this weekend, should I go out. :D

Again, a massive thank you to Gaute/Grathr.  He claims to have had a difficult time figuring out what to send me, but damn, he was spot on.  So a Merry Christmas to my Secret Santa comrade, and a massive :salute: and  to him, too.  :woohoo:
