Christmas 2016 sales
on: November 06, 2016, 01:26:50 PM
So we now know that Walmart has the SOG Micro Toolclip v.3 paired with a weird little knife, and the Kershaw no-name knife paired with their TX tool and neat little Cinder knife, but has anyone else come across good EDC sets at, say, Home Depot or Lowe's yet?

Any decent light packs this year? I know last year Walmart had the Maglite Pro/LED Solitaire and Home Depot had the Pro/LED AAA Maglite packs.

I was just wondering if I should start this thread this early, and here you have beaten me to it!

Good job Rex!

Thank you, Grant. :D  Do you and Dan still need the SOG Micro Toolclips, or do you have them sourced yet?

I can't speak for Dan, but I'm interested in a couple for sure.

I could use one or two myself. Nothing sourced here as of yet.

So two for each of you? I'll pick some up on my way home today. If you don't need the packaging, it'll be a lot cheaper for shipping. :)

No packaging necessary for me.   :tu:

I picked up four sets for you two. If you and Dan will send me your addresses, I'll get them packaged up.  I did take pictures of some of the Christmas sets Walmart has, which I'll post tomorrow after work; the Maglite set this year is the 2 C cell LED Maglite and a LED Solitaire, so I'm hoping Home Depot's is more like last year's.

You're welcome Grant. I like the MTC, I might need to pick up a set for myself. :D

Even the cheap little knife, from the one set I've thus opened, seems to be quality for the price.

Do you remember what the pairings were? I may need to stop by mine, anyway, to see about a key duplicate.

Heres a few from my wal-mart
The  SOG, Mossy Oak, and Hunter Pac are 20$

The Gerber Mini paraframe/shard 10 or 15, I forget

Camillus Nava-whatever, and a Mossy Oak w/o flashlight are 15$

Shefield has 3 variations of thier standard MT/box knife combo normaly found in hardware year round

The standard assortment of wincheste, mossy oak, ozark trail knives are are avalable in hunters, folders and tacticool.

In all I havent seen anything other than the SOG Micro ToolClip pack  that has stood out yet. The Wallys mens gift displays seem pretty much the same as last year.

The Gerber and Camillus sets seem interesting to me.  I hear the new Shard is slightly different than the old one, and I'd really like to find out whether the changes are good or bad.  :D

As for the Camillus set, well I guess I want to see just how crappy that so called survival tool is.

Yes, it would be nice for WalMart Canada to be more like WalMart USA.

As I understand it, they tried that, but our taxes were too high.  They only fared slightly better than Target when they tried.    ::)

Do you guys want the Camillus or Gerber pairings, too?

One of the Walmarts near me also have the Buck 110 with a small collector's pin, but I didn't see any other special Buck sets; Winchester and Remington have the typical cheap sets and Smith's Sharpeners have something similar to the Lansky system and the carbide pocket sharpeners that eat through blades.

Great pics
Mine was still setting up thier displays, and I guess I got some prices off while posting

Still I wish there was a little more creativity in holiday merchandise. It seams to have gotten rather stagnant in recent years. It used to be fun to see what was new for the holidays, now its just the same old with an occasional jem.

I knew someone was going to ask.  I want to say... $20?  I think?  I did check, though, and they're the Chinese-made line, but the red pakka wood does look nice. :)

As an USAer who unfortunately has to occasionally visit the rotting cesspool that is Walmart, I can't believe anyone would wish that

Idk if this has been mentioned but my local Home Depot has Leatherman Sidekicks for $30 a pop. Just worth noting.

Not a bad price either!

These are the prices we contend with in Canada.
