Idea for a new Leatherman Multi Tool. Super Sized Skeletool

Just throw this idea out there.   I would love to see Leatherman make a scaled up Skeletool.  Scale it up to fit the pliers (with replaceable cutters) that are used in the Surge or MUT.  Scale the blade to match the new larger handles.  The only change I would make would be with the longer handles to expand the bit storage some if possible.  Otherwise leave the Skeletool as close to the original configuration as possible just scaling it up to the larger size.

What do you guys think?

Sounds good to me  Unfortunately I think LM sees the MUT and Signal as an upscaled Skeletool  :-\ I do  :like: the idea though

You are correct. But I don't think MUT or Signal capture the true spirit of Skeletool, not the carabiner but the cure lines & holes along the entire tool, and Skeletool is a knife base MT, pocket knife with other features hid inside.

Well, if you increase the handle size, you should increase the pliers and knife sizes as well, right? Kind of defeating the light weight purpose of the skeletool design.

It would get a bit bigger and heavier but if you kept the configuration the same as Skeletool it would not get significantly thicker than it Skeletool.  It would be roughly 2/3's as thick as a Surge since it only has a blade on one side of one handle  The other handle without the blade would be relatively thin/light since it only has the spare bit storage and carabiner/bottle-opener.

Using the distance from the handle pivots to the tip of the pliers as a characteristic length.  A Skeletool based on a Surge's pliers head would be ~36% larger than the original.  A Skeletool weights 5oz and a Surge 12.5oz.  If they could keep the super sized Skeletool in the 8-9oz range I think it could be a good product.

I like the configuration and feature set of the Skeletool but I find myself wishing the pliers were a bit bigger and more robust for some jobs I get myself into.  Also the hard-wire replaceable cutters of a Surge style pliers head would make the tool more capable and more maintainable.

Just an idea...
