Advertisement SAK scales
on: December 02, 2016, 05:41:28 PM
Just picked up an 84mm Small Climber with the reverse shield scales and a company logo.  My first thought was to purchase some new replacement standard scales to replace the company logo, but now I'm not sure if I will.  Anyone else here edc knives with company logos?

A paper towelette and some toothpaste do the trick. Your scales might end up somewhat less shiny.

I rather like the branding on my Special Mechanic (BTW the writing is in silver, not white), makes it a bit more unique than plain scales:

In my opinion, scales with advertising are more special than neutral.
As long as the scales are in good condition I would never change.

Remark on polishing: at scales with metal inserts is this a hard work...   ;)

Touch up afterworths with displex or poly-watch and it's shining like new.

None with ads on the scales, but I have on with an ad on the blade. Love it just the way it is.

A lot depends on the product being advertised. If its something you're into (sports, cars, etc) by all means keep it. If its for some medicine for some odd disease ( a lot of those were given to doctors by pharmacy companies), you might want to exchange/remove it.

That's exactly the type of advertising that was on my 85mm Waiter. :tu:

I'd keep it. It's part of the knife's history.

I personally like advertising SAK's. It makes your SAK a little more unique. Here are my biggest advertising SAK'S. Swisschamp, Climber and Trekker.

Jeep the SAK of the auto world or is it SAK the Jeep of the Knife world?
