A request relating to ley lines
on: December 30, 2016, 12:59:35 AM
This maybe a rather unusual thread. As such,I'm not asking any members to reply to it publicly ;)

I've been aware of,and vaguely interested in the idea of ley lines for over thirty years( blame a book called 'More UFOs over Warminster')

For one reason or another,I'm doing a fair bit of reading on the subject, but I was wondering if any members have any experiences relating to ley lines,or the so called 'earth mysteries'? If you have,I'd be very grateful if you'd drop me a PM. Anything said will be treated in confidence.

Many thanks

Do you happen to have any links to the ley lines  I would like to read up on them as well and some places on the internet might be a good starting spot for research :tu:

Good links? There's the rub. Most of the info out there, especially online,is at best unreliable and sparse, and at worst off in la-la-land.

Best start point is to get a hold of Alfred Watkins book The Old Straight Track

Apparantly there's a similar phenomenon in Germany, which has some credibility with academic community, but I've struggled to find English language information.

I've read about those at some time or another, but it's always been around UK... Have those ever been charted anywhere else in the Europe or the rest of the world?

IT depends on what you read or who you believe

As I mentioned, there's strong evidence in Germany. Some writers present 'proof' in Australia(based on native beliefs),and in South America.

If you've access to to a local topographic map,and some time to do some research, you can apply Watkins on criteria:
Holy(or sacred Wells)
Ancient monuments(that is to say Neolithic or Bronze Age monuments or graves, henges or stone circles)
Old churches(in Watkins terms, those are pre-Reformation. I'd suggest looking to those in the dating to the first era of Christianisation in your nation)

If you have three or four of these in a straight alinement, you might be on to something.

It'd be interesting to see if there's anything relating to pre-Columbian cultures in North America too.

Well about the American things... How about South American as in Nazca Lines? I haven't checked of their alignments to each others, but those might qualify?
