So I started this...
on: January 05, 2017, 10:52:11 AM
been thinking about it since a while and yesterday i finally started doing something and just jumped into leatherworking.
While this is the first piece i ever made it does not meet any of my expectations but, on the other hand, it makes me a bit proud too. So I thought I'd share.

It was a very educating experience to make this. Once I got the right leather, I'd like to do some belt mounted sheaths.

Thanks! This was actually just meant to be the initial "trial and error" piece to test modelling/cutting/sewing. It turned out well enough so that I can actually use it ^^

That looks great, especially for a first time!

That looks like some serious leather too- I imagine you'll be using that one for years to come.  The stitching also looks good- very even.  Did you do it by hand or machine?

Also, I love the color.  :D

:like: it  I made a few sheaths several years back as well and it is a satisfying feeling when you can carry one of your tools in something you have made yourself like this :tu:

I also like the color as well   :like:

Good job.  :tu:

Are you planning on getting some leather stamps down the road? For me, that is where it is for leather work. Carving and stamping leather is very relaxing.  I haven't touched it in quite a few years however...being too busy currently, but I do plan on getting back into it sooner or later.

Here are some of my examples. If you find what you have done rewarding, wait till you get into this aspect of leather-working.  :salute:

And here is the link to that Leather Quiver I made. It was my last step by step thread in this forum. If you have never done anything like this...you might find it somewhat informative.

Thanks. I stitched it by hand but with a sewing awl instead of two needles.
I plan on doing some more with a different kind of leather (stiffer).

Good job.  :tu:

I already took a look at your quiver and loved it!
Although I have to admit, I am far too few an artist to do carving or much stamping.
What I find rewarding about it is, that I can do the pouches and sheaths exactly how I want them. Because the things I want either don't exist or are not available here. But who knows :P
