Randomly found this in another thread today, from the end of August 2016.

When they cut the Eucalyptus trees from in front of my other place a few guy rolled up with trailers to haul it away.  I asked one guy how'd he hear about these trees being cut down.  He told me he has connections with tree trimmers and they tell him.  He uses the wood to heat his home and hasn't bought wood in years.

After I posted this thread I went onto craigslist and people are giving away fire wood.  I'm going to begin to accumulate some for camping.

I don't heat with wood. This is just what I use in my smoker. I haven't had to buy charcoal since 2005 when I started collecting the wood that was down after storms.  My neighbors were happy to have me haul it away.

Thats awesome.  Even more so that you are smoking which I'm sure has the neighbors drooling.

Good thread.
Here's mine

All split by axe, mostly fir, with some cedar, spruce, hemlock and balsam.

Today's pile, two big birches felled, carried and split. I have no real sharpening tools where I am right now but the axe (Hults Bruk) could really have used some sharpening.

Thanks guys, a cold beer was really nice! Today's pile is made from some leftovers after sawing floorboards for the barn here. I've also been working at organising the shed so to make it presentable.

As promised, here are a few photos of my father's woodpile:

As you can see, what's left of the shed (if you could call it that!) is a bit worse for wear, but it probably measures around 8 feet across in the front and maybe 15 or so feet back by almost 6 feet high.  When the wood comes indoors this is where it lives, right next to the fireplace.

It's going to get much larger soon- there are several large trees that need to come down on his property.  I'm not sure they all need to come down, but Dad needs to justify his log splitter somehow.   >:D
