The tools flopping lose in the handle became too much of a liability (I should get Shares in Band-Aid. I'm expecting them to release a One-handed application one for those who have maimed their fingers in my honour) so I've taped in the Blade (I'll just use my SAK for cuttery)

I understand this was a deal-breaker for Def and his Core

What's up with this issue Leatherman?

Was this problem in any way related to your setting it alight?

I used to come here a lot.

I don't see how.

The only thing I can think of causing it is I sprayed the whole thing with Inox lube, but that shouldn't make a difference.

The tension on the knurled fasteners needs to be adjusted upwards. I can understand why the tang doesn't engage the flatspring until a certain level of rotation is reached. Cuts down on tang wear and flatspring interaction, probably prolonging the life of those components. The best idea is to manually tighten the fasteners, should be no more than a half-turn or so. Something easily accomplished with pliers and generally damaging the fasteners isn't an issue with that small an amount of interaction.

Since the beginning of the opening arc relies solely on the dry friction between the implements themselves lubrication of these implements was probably the cause. Testing hypothesis is to thoroughly clean the tool and remove the lubrication and see if the issue still exists. If it does not I would say to relube and tighten the fasteners until the problem is eliminated.

Ah yeah. I just looked back and it was the other end that "got a bit melted" wasn't it?

Quite odd that - although my Kicks haven't exactly seen much use, they do look reasonably solid. I had a Pulse where the blades used to flop out, but a little tightening took care of it - don't know if you tried that?

Ah - just seen Spoony's reply - which is better than mine - I'd listen to him  :P

I did frick about the with pins earlier (I even got a PM being told off about it!), but I'm not sure If I moved them or not - they still rotate as one, and they don't move when I move the tools.
