Honestly,I don't know why anyone is surprised at this....

Lots of companies have been doing this to lots of products(Fender charging over the odds for artificially patinaed Strats being one that sticks in my throat). There's dumb arses out there who've been too mollycoddled to ever experience real dirt!

I've seen vehicles in my area that look suspiciously sprayed with mud. Pretty sure most of them have never done anything remotely close to off-road (beyond parking in a driveway).

I don't think its a "care" thing but more of a  :facepalm: thing.  I'm sure we've all had a  :facepalm: moment when we've heard of any such situations.  Its more reaction rather than judgement.  Spend how you will, and wear what you dig is what I say.  I get my Levi's from the thrift store so heck maybe a  :facepalm: is in order for me?   :rofl:

Closer to home (or at least this web site) Case for years has been offering 'pocketworn' bone handles on many of their knives, to give the appearance  of long-time use. Reportedly very popular (not with me).
