An Odd MT-like Thing From My Collection
on: October 13, 2008, 10:14:01 AM
Hey folks.  I know I should do a proper intro in the Newbie section but I'm too busy buying MTs, knives, lurking, and working on reviews and mods to bother.

In any case, thought I would throw this out there as part of an extended (fill-uh-soff-i-kul) question:  "What is a MT?"

I've been EDC a Gerber Nautilus since they were brandy-new, but I didn't consider it an MT.  At least not by the general feeling I got from this forum.  More of a non-Swiss SAK.

Anyhow, here's a cool bit of kit from my collection of odds and ends.  And before anyone gets too excited, let's just say I kept it for posterity only.  The concept is grand but the execution borders on criminal.

In other words, it's junk.   But still a looky-looky:

Can't find this baby for sale anymore, but I'm sure some of you hardcore folks will know where this came from and who (in theory) made it.

Thanks for having me in your group.

I'd say it was a MT.  Its not a pliers based MT but MT none the less.

How to define a MT

I guess a tool that has been designed to accomplish the same jobs as multiple tools.  So in my personal opinion a claw hammer wouldn't count as it only has a hammer and pry tool built in but Victorinox Classic SD would with its knife, scissors, nail file, screwdriver.

This is just my view of multi-tools another external definition can be found on Wikipedia.

Neil

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I suspect, and some may cringe to hear this, our views outrank Wikipedia, in the same way you take Stephen Hawkins' views of Time-Travel more seriously than wikipedia's.

In fact, we should be quoted as Sources for information on Multitools located elsewhere online.

We are like the Multitool Mainframe, where the Truth originates, to be distorted the further away from us it gets.

(and by "We" I mean Bob)

my paint.net back (HD crash) but I'm working on Gimp
