Wave manufacturing date
on: July 24, 2017, 04:46:31 AM
Just got my second learherman tool, the wave. And I went to look at when it was Made and it says 917. That can't be right unless that's not the manufacturing date. Is there a manufacturing date stamped somewhere else?

New Wave date stamps are on the inside of the handle on the side, not on the bottom.
I.e. stamped on the vertical, not on the horizontal.

Yep that's where I was looking. It says 41 in little letters and 917 after. I also just noticed it says 817 on the other handle

It will definitely be a 4-digit number.

Could also be a very lightly stamped 0.  I've had a few that were incredibly hard to see the date stamp.  If its a new Wave with the date code on the side then theres a good chance the 0 is just very light.  Zoidberg uses a flashlight to illuminate the area, I also use this method along with my Swisschamp mag glass.

But we haven't reached 0817 or 0917 yet!

This sounds reasonable, i don't know of any other explanation

I don't think this could be it as there's no room for the 0 as the number 1 In front of the nice is pretty close. I think my wave was made on a monday!

Wouldn't be the first time Monday morning production turned out weirdness.

Haha. Doesn't really bother me just thought it be cool to know when my tool was born. There then that it works great! Build quality doesn't seem as good as my juice as far as the finish on the steels and such, but it's great!

Find this location in the Wave handle, either side, and you'll find the date code. Use a small flashlight.

This one is an 0117

Exactly where I've been looking. The handle with the can opener says 41917 and the side with the scissors says 41817

That should be no problem. I've been giving my wife free gas for almost that long. She's not very appreciative though.
