Uses for the micro screwdriver if you don't wear eyeglasses?

As more of my daily use and EDC SAKs are coming with the mini screwdriver that lives in the corkscrew, I am becoming more and more at a loss as to what to do with it. I have been tempted to just take them out and leave them in a drawer, but I don't for two reasons. One, I want to someday find a use for it, and two it helps fill out the spaces in the corkscrew and makes the SAK more comfortable to hold and use. I don't wear eyeglasses, which is what the tool was designed for. And I never really see tiny flat head screws that need turning in my daily life anywhere else. But as we all know, a SAK tool is more than what the instructions say it was meant to be used for. Help me come up with some creative uses for the mini screwdriver!

About 50% of the time that I've needed to use the mini driver on a pair of specs, it was on someone else's glasses  :pok:

You see, the most annoying thing about spectacles is that when they're broken - you can't smurfing see well enough to fix them  :ahhh

I've used it on tiny phillips screws like on a laptop. If you press hard and are careful you can remove them without damaging the screw.

Model railroad electrics plug screws, smaller screw contacts for all kinds of electronic apparatus, mixing small amounts of two-component resin glue, levering watch strap pins, ...

I used mine to set the magnetic declination correction on my Suunto compass during a hike.

The Suunto compasses all come with a tiny metal thingy that you can use as a flat head screwdriver for this, but I don't like the fact that you need to hang this thingy on the lanyard of the compass, since it has rather sharp edges and can easily scratch the compass.  And since I always have my trusty Swisschamp with me, I don't need it  :).

Small electronics and anything else that uses a tiny screw. Also pressing reset buttons.   My next pair of glasses that I ordered I noticed had what appeared to be No. 0 Phillips screws instead of a small flat head, in contrast to the fine flat head on  every pair I've worn have had. My main reason is that it gives the corkscrew more use.

Vic has instructions for using the mini SD to replace the battery on the Timekeeper and Super Timer. Can also use it to push the battery out of the Midnite Manager and other 58mm Lite models. Also the battery door on E scales. I have also used it to pry small things apart, but only the old style wedge shape works for that. I really prefer the older ones, the new ones that have a hex shape are ridiculous, how much torque could you put on the mini SD anyway, like someone would need a bit driver for it.

I don't see it as a torque issue. It is just a bit more convenient to use it without your fingers getting in the way though.

Good eletronics screwdriver. I have a tiny screwdriver same sizd as the SAK corkscrew one and never used for glasses. It was always for taking apart some radio, or variois electronic bits and toys. As well as occasionally pushing a wire back down into melted solder before it dries.

I have a few, and they seem to vary on how snugly they fit in the corkscrews. I've never had one that moved too easily, but I did have one that was super tight until it had some time to break in.

I see. I have a few SAKs coming this week and check if the fit will be snug.

Thanks.

A perfect example (although another traitor) of real world reason for the newer hex shape.  Often when doing a job on electronis , adjusting a potentiometor, removing that micro screw etc... their is not enough room to simply stick one's fingers into the area safely ( with out becoming a part of the circuit- OUCH!!) so using the driver extension as a handle becomes a must.  I carry a Swisstool X Plus set up in a custom pouch and chose to leave out the corckscrew so I modded the ratchet handle to hold the mini driver and also be a handle for using it.

Back to hexagonal vs cylindrical handle, I find that the hexagonal shape also allows more torque to be applied even with my fingers. (I put this down to my steel fingers).

Besides, I have a suspicion that Vic needed to invent something giving rise to a new patent, as the one for the cylindrical minidriver must have run out by now...

Well... It varies a bit from corkscrew to corkscrew... :-\ Some go in more than others and have vary levels of "snugness"
I have a brand new spartan that in can't get any mini SD to fit in... It just wont pass the first two 2 turns
