Fenix LD01 CE Q5?

Anybody got a Fenix LD01 CE Q5 on order? I like the change to just 3 operation modes, med/low/high, and fed by 1xAAA. I love my L0D Q4 in the red Christmas finish but maybe it's time to trade up(again)...

I like that the PWM frequency has been increased.  I'm sensitive to the strobing effect of the L0D-CE in low and med modes--enough that I could never EDC it.  You gotta hand it to Fenix for continuing improvements on their products based on user's comments/opinions.  The LD01-CE looks like a winner for sure.

I might have to get in on the preorder...

I got the L0D Q4 6 months back and I'm still not sorry (I got it in the red as well).  That said the LD01 looks like an improvement all round. Not enough for me to buy one perhaps but a job well done by Fenix. :tu:

I doubt very seriously if you'll be able to tell a big difference between the med and low modes of the LD01-CE and L0D.  A three to seven lumen difference will only be noticeable if you compare them side by side, and even then it won't be obvious.  The bump in lumens is only due to the bump in Cree bin efficiency, not a circuit change.

L0D-CE: Five output modes: 20 Lumens(3.5hrs) -> 7.5 Lumens(8.5hrs) -> 50 Lumens(1hrs) ->Strobe -> SOS

LD01-CE: Three output modes: 27 Lumens (3.5hrs) -> 10 Lumens (8.5hrs) -> 80 Lumens (1hrs)

The Serac S3 is a Fenix P1D with a clickie and only low-med-high modes, in that order.

New toy arrived today.  Very pleased with it.  Sorry for the crappy pictures. It was my First attempt at beamshots. Both shots are with the LDO1 in low mode.  First is against the EDC that it will be replacing. A Vic 2xaaa. second is against a Fenix E01.

Looks to me like the LD01 is on the left in the first picture, on the right in the second one.

The LD01 should be the whiter light in both pics.  If it's not I'm going to be very dissapointed.

It probably looks worse next to the LD01 anyway.

I would say so.  It's pretty hard to tell the actual tint of a light in a picture, as you don't know how the white balace on the camera is set, and how that translates to how your monitor is adjusted.  However, I'd say it's safe to say that the E01 is definitely bluer than the LD01.
