Storage - Mini tool set
on: February 04, 2022, 10:53:28 AM
Do any of you have a tip on how to store your Vtnx Mini tool set?

I can only have one of the tools in the knife corkscrew and if I need one of the other three, they do no good if they're still at home. The packaging they came in is far too weak and I can't have four knives in my pocket. I suggested Victorinox to develop a small simple holder for them, which you can bring with you. For example, in the same material as the newer cases, Classic SD silicon case. They haven't responded but are probably drowning in more or less crazy suggestions.

Would it be possible to have the plastic grip on the middle of the tool, so that it has two heads available?

I have this set too but haven't opened it yet, I still carry the old flathead and have used it on Phillips as well as hex heads to, it wasn't optimal but it was the only thing around to save the day and I always have a straight pin in the scales and that work to get the sim card or reset buttons a push too so I haven't really been needing to open it yet.

But to answer your question I thing some sort of tube would work best and be quite invisible in the pocket

How about keeping it all Victorinox, and some additional versatility?

(Just an example, not neccessarily an acceptable link for you)

Are they of any use if you have the Cybertool bits, all of them?

Haven’t done this yet, but my plan is to do something with these:

This was already a storage problem for me when the FireAnts came out. Now I should be able to carry the FireAnt/Tinder in the SAK and whatever bits separately.

I actually used the SIM card tool earlier in the week. Put it back in the clamshell when I was done. Lol.

I’ve used these.

Forgot mention. If you plan to keep at least 1 tube along with the mini-tools the tube tends to leak out once opened. They really are single use so after use best to just throw them out.

Thanks for all the answers! I think I will try one of the pill cases that PitCarver suggested.

I have this small philips driver that's slightly smaller than the Cybertool bit. It is a miniature screwdriver, not a bit.
It came from a minii skateboard toy I once bought for my son.
A Skinth provides many spaces to store it. It can be kept in the upper right corner, together with the sharpening stone.
But, my current setup provides enough alternatives, so there's no reason to consider the 4 mini drivers, however colorful and pretty they look.

I really hate to go back and add another option, but I was going through some old things in my "misc" drawer (don't have a junk drawer) and found an old car remote.
It got me thinking that it could be gutted and used to carry small stuff, like bits.
Took the innards out and super glued the buttons.  I kept the rubber piece in it and it now comfortably holds 3 standard 1/4" bits.  I'd guess that it should easily hold as many  of the Victorinox bits, with the fourth one in the corkscrew.

After a little bit of trimming the insides of this remote I was actually able to get 4 standard 1/4 inch bits inside.  Not familiar with remotes other than this one and one from either one of my old Ford trucks or the Crown Victoria, I know that the Ford's will easily hold 4 bits also, with a smaller square shape.  I've just gotta find my Ford set.
