Got $600, an envelope, and a forever stamp laying around? I got a deal for you

From time to time, I buy silver coins and rounds from JM Bullion. I think this one is flying under radar. Google cache shows JMB originally wanted $1,000 check price for it. With silver seems to be on upward trend, this one has really low premium, with only 200 pcs available worldwide.

Cool coaster for your fancy coffee cup (or beer)

It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

It was made in Germany -there must be a German dealer, so we can avoid the tax....

The kilo bullion size usually does not have high premium. It makes sense, as there is not as much work put into production as 1 or 2 oz sizes. For this particular elephant coin, though with very low mintage, it must have not been an easy sale at their original $1,000 asked price. Youtube has a unboxing vid showing how sloppy the packaging is. With silver is currently about $17.5 an Oz, that works out just about little over $1 over spot, not too shabby. JMB is a reputable dealer to buy from. I ordered one for the heck of it.

Price got bumped another $50 today, probably just an hour or two before this post. Why I know? I checked this morning and thought of buying another one.  >:D Still a decent price if you are keen to collect. I am glad I jumped in yesterday.

Apmex has the 2018 kilo version for $648.78.  Different finish and design.

I like my silver in smaller sizes. What is the collectability of these things? You can do really well with Chinese Pandas, getting more than silver price, because of their collectability.

Old issues of Perth Mint kilo lunar coins can do well, though not as well as their small-size counterparts, per oz. I want to pay as close to spot as possible, but I also want to have fun in stacking. These kilos are not easy to sell for profit. However, they do not cost a lot per oz to acquire. I am also a rather lazy person. I do not want to live in fear of milk spots ruining my hoard of coins.  :D

As collectibles, my knife and multi tools collection can do better than silver coins, and they are pretty much maintenance free.

It is here  :mail: :mail: :mail:
The coin itself is beautiful. The antique finish highlights the details just at the right spots and right tones. I have a few 5-oz antiqued Mucha rounds, and I must say the process applied on the elephant coin is so much cleaner and nicer.

Now the packaging is garbage  >:(  The lining is just a piece of flimsy plastic, which was already broken to pieces when I opened it. Who in the right mind designed a super thin box lining with a kilo piece of metal juggling inside? I saw the issue in an unboxing video on Youtube, but the reality is way worse than I expected. The COA is a joke of a printed piece of paper. The packaging is not worthy of this coin. Certainly not what I expected as a German-made item. A box made of native Somalian wood would have been nice.

The only saving grace is I purchased it at a reasonable enough price.  :tu:

Now THAT'S a coin!   :ahhh

I'd love to have the spare cash to invest in something like that.  From time to time I look at various gemstones and precious metals and dream that one day maybe... but then a tenant breaks a toilet and any thoughts of getting ahead go down the hole!   :ahhh

I see sealed coin envelope type auctions all the time. Haven’t had the courage yet to bid.
