Gerber fishing knives ?
on: August 25, 2008, 07:58:09 PM
Hi Guys
I was looking for a decent sized fishing knife and have seen the 9 inch bladed Gerber Gator fishing knife it looks good but I would value your opinions .My prefernce would be for at least a 6 inch blade as this will be getting used for kitchen duty as well as the odd trout gutting

They are very nice! I have three of them and they work very well... Although, I prefer Rapala filleting knives.

My uncle has used a Gerber Gator for years to gut and fillet trout.  I saw it and it was a big serrated clip point and I thought it would be horrible for filleting...but my uncle swears by it.

I have the same knife (half-serrated Gator clip point) and it's pretty good.  The blade is nice and big and the rubber handle always gives you a good, secure grip.  Really nice knife.
This is called a Swiss Army Knife. Do you know what Switzerland is? Switzerland is a place where they don't like to fight, so they get people to do their fighting for them while they ski and eat chocolate. - Larry David
