PST Rehab
on: March 10, 2018, 08:24:21 PM
 My original PST that I carried for 20 years for work was a little worse for wear. I recently got a PST for $10  and decided to use it as a organ donor. I pretty much retired my PST when I joined this forum and bought a Rebar to replace it. It has a lot of sentimental value and I would like to carry it again once in a while.

Organ donor

All the tools are in almost unused condition except the small flathead which had a tiny chip missing from the tip. Fixed that on my grinder.

Original next to donor.

 The pliers are worn out, small screwdriver tip snapped off and reprofiled, file worn out, phillips worn, awl tip dull and the large flathead missing because I used it to mod my Minitool  :D

Original in pieces getting ready for a transplant

All done and ready to be put back into the rotation. The only original parts are the handles and the knife blade. I wanted to keep the knife blade because I feel like that's the heart   ;)

Yes or it could be a Supertool Case  :tu:

If it's closer to 4 inches than 5 then it's a PST sheath

Hey listen, I don't have any use for it at all, I don't even remember how I got it  :D
You are one of the guys that helped me and answered my questions, especially when I was new.
Do you want it? You can have it if you pay for the postage fees, which shouldn't be expensive :)

I use the metric system like you, and dislike the imperial system as much as the next European (British isles excluded!  :ahhh ), but:

<Geeky math mode on>
That’s more accurate if you round it off.
4.2, for example, would be more appropriate, due to the accuracy of your original measurement.
</Geeky math mode off>

You can ignore this post if you want, I just wanted to talk about maths. :rofl:
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

Having done a few restoration projects on PSTs recently, I am digging seeing someone else do the same.

The very simple take-down and reassembly of the PST make them great for this kind of repair. This is one of those things that you really start to appreciate when you have to take it all apart and put it back together.

Also, very cool that you could bring your old tool back up to fighting shape.

AND I liked your Mini mod that claimed the flathead to begin with.

ALL good stuff. :tu:

G'Day Steve,

That looks really good. It is amazing to see the wear on the original parts.

I for one, like reading these threads on revivals. It got me into MT repairs too, wanting to get an old friend a second lease on life.

Cheers, and give the sheath some leather care too.

Pete
