You're doing god's work there, rescuing an old Champ like that! And now it has no fish scaler you say? I bet some folks would prefer a swisschamp minus the scaler layer!
I feel the fish scaler can't really do what it needs to do due to its size and the fact that you risk getting fish scales and guts in the knife. It's a waste of space, and it has no backside tool like every other tool in the SwissChamp, well minus pliers. I don't know why Vic hasn't tried testing the waters with a Champion and SwissChamp with the scaler deleted. Great job fixing it up! I can't find SAKs in any condition locally that aren't double eBay prices locally.
Excellent work trichosirius
+1

Great job on the rescue...I would have passed myself but yours will have me thinking differently next time I see one!
Really great work! So you added a hook? Nice. Myself, I'm not opposed to the scaler. It has other uses - straightedge, ruler, rangefinder, probe, fork (maybe!), testing the imagination - and it's a thin enough layer to not add too much bulk to the knife.
