Then this morning I made a new little EDC tool sheath to carry on my belt with a small Cobra, bit driver and a couple bits, Prybaby, and small crescent wrench.

I'm out, but I'll take photos when I get back. It basically the same as a couple pages back with the Cobra instead of the Craftsman pliers.

I shouldn't have said I "made" a sheath. I'm using the same sheath as before. I tried a Leatherman molle sheath too. I can get the plierench and Cobra in that.

Here you go.

I may try some other variables. I saw an interesting driver about the same size with bit storage on Amazon that I'll probably order.

I bag carry a small ratchet driver that has storage for seven short bits in the handle.

Convenient in size and weight but sometimes the storage cap loosens in use and I generally like to use long bits.

I have a compact t handled ratchet that is nice to use but it weighs a lot more so it stays at home.

Another option with more versatility is to use a Leatherman Crater with a bit kit since I need a knife in my pocket anyway.

How's the mini Cobra working out for you? I've been thinking about EDCing one. I have a 180mm and a 250mm one I keep at home, they're great but sometimes the tip on the 180mm one feels a little too narrow for uses other than pipe/bolt work or pulling out a nail. I know they're not meant to be used like lineman's pliers, still I think they'd make a sweet EDC piece.

Have you considered adding a prying edge to the adjustable wrench? I saw someone on here had done it (but the idea is of course much older and can be seen on models probably going back at least to WW1) but I don't remember who it was. It should give you a better leverage for prying and allow you to fit something else in there if you wanted. You would lose the cap-lifter but they are usually everywhere anyway.

Mine was a cheap 4" one and is quite small, even for my relatively small hands but maybe a 6" (or better, a 5" would probably be just about as long as a regular multitool once the hanger-hole is removed).

Got this with me for quite some time now. Small enough not to bother you, sturdy enough to solve any problem that arises.

I love the smaller Cobras - both 150 and 125. I use them all the time. I've never thought about the tip being too narrow because it's plenty strong. The main thing I like is how large the jaw goes. I use them to tighten hoses and just about everything else.

That's a great idea! I have several of the small ones, so it's worth a try.

Great  ::)  Now I need to go have a look at the mini ones again :D

I agree they're pretty strong and as you say, I like how large the jaw goes and how the gripping surface is designed. Such a functional tool.

I don't remember how I first found them - I guess it was when Sears first started rebranding them. I've always loved German tools, starting with Wiha screwdrivers.

I know where I first came across Knipex Cobras, a trusted hardware shop owner recommended them and he was right. That's where I got a pair of Wiha combination pliers as well, on those I cannot really say much since I rarely use them thanks to the Cobras :D

Two Three things about those Wiha pliers though,

- They haven't seen water but rust is forming on two spots
- What is Wiha DynamicJoint® supposed to do?
- I'm not sure I like that bump inside one of the jaws that's meant to improve their bite. I need to find the ref.#

Other than that, I agree, Germans make some pretty good hand tools :tu:

I did not know the Leatherman bit kit and extender worked with the Crater series. That makes it shine more in my book  :tu:

I haven't used the Wiha pliers. That's too bad about the rust.

Another huge favorite for me is this great locking plier from Facom of Italy, official toolset of Ferrari.
