Actually just saw a 69 soldier on ebay a few weeks back.  Keep an eye out there.

Good luck with the hunt!

They're out there...take your time and wait for a good or better copy with that budget.  Happy hunting!

I’m not looking for mint knife, just very good condition and I see frequently that in this  era just not 69’s at between $100 and $200. Let’s be real here, they aren’t unicorns. I can readily get an old soldier from that era for this price. I want  a 69. If not I would have already picked one up at around this price that are nice. I’m not going to get gouged on a 69 because I want one. Old soldiers are dime a dozen if you’re not specific on the year from this era. I’m a user not a shelf queen hoarding collector like so many that are keeping good knives from being used because they are an 8 year old going on 80. I will have one and I probably won’t pay over $150 for it. I know what true market is on this knife. These really aren’t a big deal knife at all except I would like to have a 69. I can get U.S. Army 69 Camillus’s all day for $50 to $100 new that are every bit the knife a SAK soldier is. I would just like a Birth year SAK soldier. I hope my intelligence is not going to be insulted on this search by Old SAK collector children. That’s my two cents!!!

Wow. Not the way to get anyone to help you. Why trash someone who sees the value in putting a collectible SAK on a shelf? I’m a user myself, but that’s my choice. Just as it is others that choose to put them on a shelf to preserve what once was. If it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the older SAKs.

Wow. I must have missed something. This thread sure went sideways quickly, for no apparent reason.

Agreed. This went dark pretty quick. I meant no disrespect toward the OP, but dang...

if dark is telling like it is then so be it. I'm not pandering to collectors, resellers and flippers who are weasels that think they might have a sucker here. I've been around the block in the knife world and probably have seen more than I would like from knife misfits. I'm not about to beg for anything , I have a life and not an 8 year old who collects Matchbox cars like so many knife people that are in avoidance of life. Yeah I hit hard and take no prisoners. That is what a real soldier does. Sorry not making any friends and that's pretty likely anyway because I don't have over 100 SAK's to show off and be in hyper competition with, like a kid with their toys. How many wives and girlfriends would say amen too what's been said here? Answer is Most. Hopefully this will be a wake up call to some but I doubt it because who am I . I don't have !00's of SAK's to make me credible. Your value is in your number of knives attained isn't it children ? The ones that won't like this are the ones most guilty of course because they are getting exposed. TOO  BAD !!!  now that's some Gospel. being spoken here. I pray for the wives, girlfriends and significant others for what they are put through. Blessings to you.    :like:

Swisster, your attitude is pretty poor for someone looking for help in finding something. You are also not starting out on a good foot for a new member of the forum. We are a friendly helpful lot here on MTo but we don't tolerate name calling. If you don't feel like you need to be friendly then this is not the place for you. There are other knife forums you can look for your BYSAK but I wouldn't expect much help from anyone with a piss poor attitude like you have shown here.

Funny enough, 8yo kids don't recognize the value in collectible items.  :dunno:

Just because you think a certain way doesn't necessarily mean anyone who thinks differently is wrong. In truth, you could very well be the wrong one.
The more small minded a person is, the more confident they are in their limited knowledge.

There was no need for trashing collectors. You can have your small minded opinions, that is true, but a a grown man should know better than to throw idiotic insults around a room full of people he thinks are idiots.

Just my $0.02.

Insulting the guys that you are wanting help from is sorta like walking into traffic with a blindfold ::)

Most of the guys around here have been around the knife world a time or 2 as well and people like the way you are acting is a dime a dozen ;) MTO is a place where we come to talk about tools, SAKs and knives both collectors and not :salute: so if you don't like it perhaps you aren't in the right place  if you wish to act more your age (a man of almost 50 years) then perhaps you need to start acting like a big boy and treat people with respect instead of talking down to them :tu: my 2 cents

Live and let live is what I always try to live by.

Yet you feel as if someone who does not has the same mindset as yours is automatically wrong and "not on your level".

If SAKs from "that era" are so common and easy to find, what brings you here then?

Truth be told, even if I had a 69 Soldier,I wouldn't sell it to you. Not even for $500.
Not because I feel hurt because of what you say, but because you show a total lack of respect for someone else's way of thinking, living, having fun, ... However you want to call it. And that is enough for me to dislike you too.
Someone your age should know better. And therefore I think my wife is happy that I'm a SAK collector, but also a respectful young man who knows how to communicate with it's fellow man.
And that, my man, is way more important to have a happy wife compared to the amount of knives one has.
In fact, if you treat yours the same way as you just acted here, I'm feeling sorry for her and wish her a better life someday.
