I've used the PST can opener a bunch of times and really like it.  The fit of the screwdrivers is different from the SAK, in my opinion.  I am just used to how the SAK feels, not that the screwdrivers are better.  My biggest love of the PST is it's size.  It really is a pocket survival tool!

No further truth than that!  Really love the form factor :tu:

I remembered having a hard time transitioning from PST to Wave, and eventually, the OHO blade on Wave slowly got me convinced.

I was going to carry a pst exclusively in Dec anyhow, so I'm in!  What are the rules exactly, or did I miss that post?

You have to carry a PST everyday in the month of December (for this particular PST challenge ;) ) and post a pic of it each day (try to get in use pics but if you can't you still need a daily pic :tu: )

Seems this is going to be a great challenge with plenty of participants :like: :like:

Easy peazy.  Does the PST need to be the EXCLUSIVELY carried knife/MT, or just the only MT?  And must it be our one and only cutting tool for everything, such as kitchen and food tasks as well?  The last monthly challenge I did over on BCUSA was a one-knife challenge along those lines.

I often carry a Kershaw Skyline as a dedicated folder in tandem with an MT, but can easily resort to just the PST.

Originally before seeing the challenge thread, I was going to carry a PST along with my dads old cross pioneer and AA maglite as an honorium to what was his EDC (although now I think he carried an original Supertool, not a PST).

Just want to make sure I follow the rules.  Use a knife or driver of some kind everyday, so this should be a non-issue.

Need to ask SteveC all the fine details as this is a challenge he started  :salute: your planned EDC seems fine by me but we need to let him make the final call :tu:

You can carry another knife (Traditional or Modern) but no other multi tool. I would consider the pioneer a Multi tool and would discourage that or any other SAK. Having said that if someone absolutely needed scissors I would say ......

So where does a knife stop and a multitool start? Does a two-blade slippie count as a multitool?  :ahhh

BTW this has got to be the challenge with the highest topic page count even before it started
Cheers!

For sure, the Pioneer is indeed an MT in my eye as well.  So I think I'll go with the PST in belt sheath (it also fits in most watch/coin pockets which is awesome), and a small dedicated folder.  Maybe some days I'll go solo-PST.  Scissors are a great tool, convenient but usually not absolutely necessary.  The small pen blade works just fine.

Should be a fun month!

Guys, anyone with some surplus original PST blades willing to part with one on the cheap?

Ahead of the challenge I was just playing around with my PST's this morning, and there's this thing that just bugs me a bit.

As I'm not a big fan of half-serrated blades, I replaced the original one on my PST II with a PE one from a first gen PST, but that's been broken and reground, perfectly functional, but doesn't look very nice.

It's not a vital issue, just a small annoyance, I thought it's worth asking, but I can can live with what I have as well.

I have an extra combo blade  :D the PE blades are harder to come by because many feel the way you do about the combo blades unfortunately  :ahhh it took me a long while to track a PE blade down

For what it's worth, the regrounding job that you did looks done well :salute:

Really? And here I was thinking the original PST was sold by boatloads so it would be pretty easy to find one from junk/donor ones. I guess I'll just have to accept that my PST II has a special knife blade.  :D

A whole PST can be tracked down no problem it is just the blade by itself is hard to get :D if you don't mind buying g a whole PST and swapping the blade out then you should be able to do that much more easily

Sure, but that's not on the cheap then, is it? :) I guess with shipping this would not come under $40, and for me that's not worth it for one PE blade.
