This is going to be a must follow for me, especially since everything Fuzzbucket writes my brain reads it as John Cleese  :D

Fuzzcase Day 1 - With the Old Breed

For this challenge I'll be mostly using Jack's Texas Jack (again, a very kind prezzie from Nix), hopefully other Case knives will make an appearance from time to time too.

I'm planning on having a rather civilised sort of day reading and drinking coffee. Although, I'll be doing some cooking later on, so there may well be some foodie type pics to follow.  :tu:

Day 1
The contestants are basically all Case knifes I own (three). They are all quite different in size, pattern etc.

- 6.5 BoneStag Mini Trapper 6.5297W SS

...a present from Nix that got me started on traditional folders  :hatsoff:

- Amber Bone Peach Seed Jig Sod Buster Jr 6137 SS

... bought off Fuzzy's hands

- Dark Red Bone Smooth Barlow 62009 1/2 SS

I'll be using the Mini Trapper today and take it on a little hike  :salute:
So far it helped preparing a sandwich.
That clip point is a great slicer...
Nice - very nice!  :tu:

I bought that along with Leckie's Helmet for my Pillow a couple of years ago and only read bits, but what I did read was excellent - which is not a surprise as they're both considered two of the best books on the subject. I'm determined to read them properly.

Another book, which is astonishing good, is George MacDonald Fraser's first hand account of the Burma Campaign - Quartered Safe Out Here... Possibly one of the best books I've ever read.  :tu:

Nice! About a decade ago I did some deep reading on the CBI theatre. (Actually went to the U.S. national archives and read some original reports from the CBI theatre.) That was a fascinating part of the war, often under appreciated, in my view.

Agreed, quite disgraceful that it is.

The book looks interesting. I didn't see that HBO series either. I surely don't know much about the war in the Pacific.

Day 1 - bonus
Here's an observation I've made with my Case knifes. The edge they're putting onto the blades is quite rough/toothy.
Depending on what you plan to use the knife for this can be a bit annoying.

On a positive side though it can be used as a wood saw in a pinch

The little hike we've done was nice although we've got a bit wet.

Rain over Glenngarriff...

Case Mini Trapper enjoying the view anyway...

I saw it when it first came out and it was excellent... I mean like smurfing excellent, although extremely brutal, much more so than Band of Brothers.  :o It's an absolute must see though, but I'd have a stiff drink ready.  :drink:

Thanks Ray, very kind  :hatsoff:

... sooo, everyone believes that I've actually sawed that branch with the Trappers Wharncliffe blade?  :D  I've left a hint  :pok:

Still, if you zoom in you can see the rough grind on the blade a bit.

Here I am on a multitool forum, adding to my reading list?!  I guess it is better (or at least cheaper) than adding to my list of wanted knives.

I enjoying reading about WWII history, especially Naval battles.  I recently finished Edge of Terror and am currently reading We Band of Angels, both about the Philippines.
