This is an interesting Case Trapper. It's called a Copperhead Trapper,#6249.

I've been fortunate to have collected three. This is the most colorful of the group.

If you compare it to 54 series trapper,my favorite, you'll see the blade grinds are different.

There is also a difference in length. The 54 series is 4 1/8" long and the 6249 is 3 7/8" long.So there is only 1/4" difference between the two.

:iagree:. I've never seen one like that.  That front bolster looks like it's from a Canoe pattern.  How long ago did they make it?

This has the same model number as the Copperhead 6249.It's a mystery to me why they didn't initiate a different model number for the Copperhead Trapper. The front bolster of the Copperhead was designed to cover the end of the blade, where it makes contact with the backspring,so it wouldn't catch on the pocket when the blades are closed

I've done some cursory searches and have not turned up any definitive dates of time of manufacture. The red bone shown and another natural bone I own, have the same date 1997.I have another in natural bone with a different Case logo, that is marked CS6249 and the date is stamped in Roman numerals MCMXCIII [1993]. I still haven't discovered what the prefix letters CS mean.

I'll continue to search and report back.

There is one on the bay that I put a link to awhile back. It combines two of my favorite traditionals.

There was a Gun and Knife show in town for the first time in 5 years, so I went.

I bought these 2 Case Russlocks for a total of $60.00. I could not resist the price.
