Buck 311 Kingsman
on: November 30, 2019, 08:19:55 PM
Picked one of these up today on sale.
Not sure, but they may be exclusive to Canadian Tire one of our national retailers.
Although made in the exotic Far East, I figured Buck has the confidence to brand them and stand behind them with the forever warranty, at $9.49 on sale, I'd give it a try.
Fresh out of the package I'm not disappointed, smooth OHO, liner lock, and a deep carry pocket clip, no play in the blade, with a solid, glass reinforced handle material.
The blade is satin finish stainless, not sure of the steel quality but it's razor sharp.
Time will tell the true story, I didn't want to muddy other Buck topics  :dunno:

The handles are most likely foreign made. The blade should be 420J2. Does the package mention Boss heat treat?

Sharp yet easy to maintain.

A great find, better bargain considering exchange values.  Enjoy!

Thanks for commenting LoopCutter
The fine print confirms 420J2, no mention of Boss heat treat though  :hatsoff:

Either you have giant hands or the handles are rather small.LOL

That knife is a little too small.

It looks about the size of a Bantam with a 2-3/4” blade or maybe a 3”

I must be a knife made for Canadian market.  Not listed on Buck.com.

Previously the 311 denoted a traditional made by Camillus for Buck.  Found some discussions on forums a few years old.

I can see why you would say that, based on the knives you've shared, for me I'd call it a medium

The blade appears to be stamped from the same used to make the mini-spitfire model. That model uses aluminum scales.

The Bantam BBW is my work EDC pocket carry, it is 2-3/4” blade.  (284 blade), a lock back.

Great find! Every Buck knife I have ever purchased was excellent quality regardless of where it was made. That one looks like a good EDC size.

Good to hear a quality EDC blade by Buck can be had for $10.  With their warranty I suspect this knife should be around for a while for you.  Use it hard and don't look back.   :like:

Glad you asked

I've been torturing it as a work knife in an automotive shop, where it's been doing quite well, opening lots of packages, cut some hose and soft wire, probably the most impressive duty would be removing the stretch drive belts a lot of makers use now, it's easier to cut them off when replacing them, the blade goes right through the heavily reinforced rubber, and then slices my lunch Apple.

At this point, after a couple of weeks I'm impressed, the blade is is still sharp, and tight at the pivot, also the handle is comfortable and I don't even notice it has a clip.

It really punches above it's weight, I just don't know what that weight is, with a regular price of 50.00 I wouldn't have given it a second look, but at the 9.00 sale price it's a gem

:like: That does sound like a gem.  With Buck warranty also considered if anything should go sideways you're covered as well.  Nice grab for $9  :tu:

And I should have added that any other 9.00 regular price knife would have been in the garbage broken at this point

Great feedback and glad it is working well for you.

I use my Bantam in much the same way.  It has been abused for about 4 years after buying marked down for about $12.  It still is used in my PT job M-F.

I am now jealous yours was a better bargain;)
