G'Day,

I got myself another SwissTool yesterday. It was advertised on the local second-hand sales site for a VERY good price. The tool also included the bit driver and a number of bits.

The tool needed a good clean and sharpen. Two points of previous damage, but the owner did not try to repair it. The reamer / awl has been bent and has a few small chips in the edge. I have not tried to remove these yet. I am thinking of using a very fine metal sand paper possibly 800 / 1000 grid to get the edges off without removing any of the tool itself. The second bit of damage is on the serrated blade. It looked like the blade hit something hard and that left some marks on the tip / first serration and about 1/2 way down the blade. I got most of that out with a ceramic honing stone. The blade is now very usable and super sharp. All that was left was to put an edge on the PE blade and some oil.

While that was all sinking in, I soaked the pouch in some clothing soap and scrubbed it with a soft tooth brush. It went from dull grey to a bright original black. No damage to the sheath at all. The bit driver got a clean too, as well as the bits. I noticed that the Vic part number is stamped on each bit - some detail  :D. I also added a eyeglass screw driver in the bit kit, it fits perfectly in a hex hole.

This one is going into the bike toolkit next to my LM Crunch. I am still amazed at the quality of the SwissTools, this was clearly a used, but not too much abused. One day I might get the awl fixed.

Enjoy the pics, Pete

:D  :D You have no idea...

Another one is on its way. Sadly, I will be away when it arrives. That one is new, bo and $10 cheaper than this one. Although it does not have the additional bits... That takes my tally to 5  I am going to need some more custom sheaths. I prefer Leather to the nylon ones.

This one will go down to the farm with me for some work and cooking duties. I got rid of all the nicks on the reamer but did not try to bend it straight. It will stay that way now.

And to the other comments - Thank you!!!

Pete

12 days with the SwissTool on the farm for holidays. This has been the first time that I carried a SwissTool for such a long time. And I am impressed. We worked everyday from fencing to motorcycle repairs and food prep duties. The only bit that took some beating was the wire cutters, after cutting fence wire. It has a slight bit of a burr, but that I'll fix over the weekend. The tool stayed sharp and I must say the serrated blade is good!!! Bread, rope, meat and all sorts of other stuff - cut like it was butter!!!.

I will give the tool a good clean and touch up the blades. Then it will go onto the bike for permanent duties. I also got a BNIB BO Aussie military issue tool. That is a beauty. Pics tomorrow when it is light.

Cheers, Pete

Maaaate, at $45 I could hardly say no. Got it today and it is BRAND NEW!!! I will take pics of it tomorrow with the older version I have. The new one has the new plier head, which I did not know exists. The box has two part numbers on it: 3.0323.3R and 4.0823.NN. From the sellers pics I could only see that it was black. He did not take a pic of the box or the Nato Number. It was a surprise when I opened it.

Cheers, Pete

Great post and photo’s...looks like the SwissTool handled itself extremely well on farm duty!

I've always LOVED my Swisstool.  Glad to here about your's and looking forward to seeing that Aussie.  I have the one with the newest pliar head design in my collection too. Got to find one of the older ones now.  Any plans for March? https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,83628.0.html

G'Day,

Thanks for the complements.

Rapidray: I love this watch, the more I wear it the better it gets. Pics just for you.  ;)

Douglas: I'll check the March Challenge. I am planning a week on the bike and may not have internet connection all the time.

I am proud to introduce the latest SwissTool in my collection. Another Aussie Nato one with the new plier head. The original Aussie one started my journey into SwissTools. Somehow they have accumulated over the last couple of years. Three I bought brand new, the other one was secondhand and posted a few posts prior and then the Aussie one. I also noticed that the file is slightly different on the new Bo one, more aggressive. This one will be packed away with The SwissTool X for the boy-child in the future.

Cheers, Pete

LOVE
The collection!!

As to the challenge and your bike trip...
There have been many challenges where "catch up daily photos" were allowed and as long as it's while the challenge is running, stated before your trip and resumed with the "catch up daily photos" when you get back, I don't see a problem.  Just adds to the MADNESS. :tu: :tu:

On another note...
If you wouldn't mind keeping an eye out for one of the Old School NATO's at a reasonable price, it would be a much appreciated addition to my collection.
$60-$80 US.  Any NATO is prety uncomon around here.

Thanks Douglas,

I'll keep an eye out. They are pretty rare here too. I have seen one other about a year ago and the seller wanted well over $200 for it. That is way to much for me.

Thanks for the Challenge info, I'll keep it in mind.

Got my first Swisstool. That thing is a beast! The weight difference to the Spirit is significant, so this is not something I will EDC, but it will see plenty of use around the house and the wood shop i am sure. :woohoo:

(Image removed from quote.)

CONGRATULATIONS on the new BEAST in your collection.
The Swisstool is quite the BEAST and EDCing it is a challenge all in it's self.  I did so for the better part of 20 years and was glad to have such a BEAST at my side during that time.  During that time I belive the BEASTLY constructin and attention to detail, fit and finnish and simplicity of design (only what is needed to make it work, no bells and whistles) made it the perfect companion for the heavy duty service work it was called to do.  It will serve you flawlessly from a simple ruler to a carpenters square to a hammer to delicte work of trimming your beard or pruning your flower bed and most everthing in between and around.  The possibilities with a Swisstool are endless.  Mine repaired commercial ovens and dish machines large enough to hold as many as 10 people with room left over and items as small as an ultra light fishing real, then would help with cleaning the catch and dinner prep sometimes all in the same day.  It truely is a marvelious tool.  One time it even made sure our Youth Group of 30+ youth and 16 adults got home safely from an out of country Mission trip.

Congratulations. I EDC mine most days. I am used to the weight now. The leather sheath I have also adds some additional weight. I like thick leather sheaths.

That is a stunning pic btw!!!

Thanks, Pete  :hatsoff:

It came without a sheath, but I figured I can make one myself. I want to make it similar to the one Vic adds to the Spirit. Now to figuring out how to replicate it
