Thanks Comis and Barry - it was on at the usual suspect for just over half price, so I couldn’t resist! Once the challenge is over, it’ll get a permanent place in my work bag - despite doing a desk job, it’s surprising how often a solid multi tool comes in handy! Plus that Spirit blade doesn’t shout knife like the one on the XBS. I’ll have to see if I can’t use some red Humbrol enamel to jazz up the badge later on.

Many thanks indeed, everyone! As promised, I’ve had a go at jazzing the new Spirit up with some red Humbrol enamel (left over from a bicycle restoration I did in 2016) no 19 red gloss. I thoroughly cleaned the area around the shield and logo on both sides with acetone, stirred up the enamel well, painted over the area with the logo and shield on both sides, propping the tool so that neither painted area touched the deck, left to dry for 90mins, wiped the excess paint off with a taut rag over the finger almost dry yet moist with acetone, and rubbed off the excess paint leaving the areas filled in with paint. It’s a method I used in my teens and beyond for picking out logos, lining cut-outs, etc on cycle components. Same process as for those using nail varnish I’m sure, but hopefully the enamel will be more durable in the long run.

Day 9
Used the Spirit to assist with some paracord work, cutting an apple, opening a box; but I liked the glamour shot taken while walking Fisher outside the Vet better.

Nice Pic Sos!
Nice to hear that Fisher is well!

Day 10

Used Swisstool to open the battery compartment for the reading pen, I was wondering whether Swisstool has the appropriate small screwdriver for the job, and surprised to find out how well the small flathead has worked, just like how can opener fine head would work as impromptu phillips in 91mm.

(Image removed from quote.)

Nice to know.  I have one of those type of screws on a small battery fan and not many drivers work with it.

Day 10 - I tried to use the saw but I had to use the bigger gasoline brother or I will saw until end of days

[It's not failure if you learn something from it]

The Saw is great but sometimes bigger and powered blade comes in handy

Cool 29 degrees F here today so the Swisstool came to the pellet stove rescue!

How well does the pellet stove work?  Do you go through a loy of pellets?

:hatsoff: Day 10 -
Pliers assisted to open latch on bucket lid.

Those lids can be a pain to open but the buckets do come in handy.

Mags, Fuzz and Douglas - well spotted, and thank you! 55 yesterday, another year older, but none the wiser!

Day 10

Early delivery this morning, and Spirit XBS’s blade came in handy to cut the sellotape seals on my latest acquisition- another Spirit, but this time the plus with ratchet!

Happy late birthday, Rizio and nice acquisition. The enamel paint came out real nice too.

Thanks Hevy.  Fisher just needed a couple shots but all is well.  He actually made the Vet Techs day, because he was actually acting happy and he was so sweet and lovable towards her.

Correct, the Tomats are sown and placed on the heated bed, they will stay in the greenhouse, i will start to sow the beets direct into the soil in a few weeks, still a bit cold and wet for those, or anything else really, i have lemon grass seeds too that i want to try to germinate and those can go out in the summer, as a backup i have a few stalks rooting  atm as they will be fine for sure, as long as i remember to bring them back in late summer i can have tomato and beetroot lemongrass pie which doesn't sound very appetising and it probably isn't but at least i will have the ingredients for it  :D

Swiss Fuzz Day 10

Used the Swisstool to cut back some fencing getting in the way of Barbara Dickson Dyke.

The minute after I took that shot, that part of the wall suddenly collapsed as well... right on bloody top of me. After ten minutes taking the pain trying not to cry, I realised miraculously nothing was broken or smashed... smurfing hell that was lucky, there was some big rocks in amongst that lot - the coping stones bounced off my shin landed right on my foot.

Day 10 :
Trying to fix mum's HP printer that doesn't print black anymore, even with new cartridge. SPOIL : it didn't work.

Used the large flat screwdriver as a pry bar to pop the latch of the printer lid, then the torx bit and ratchet to disassemble the beast so I could access the printing heads. Even used the pliers to remove and then reset the large springs that push the printing heads down on the paper!
