I have been trying to wrap my head around these, and I don‘t see a viable usage scenario, but maybe I am missing something. If you are in an emergency situation, let‘s say stranded in the woods, you are most likely exhausted, dehydrated, and shivering. Not the best conditions to get a fire started with such a little item. So you better have a proper fire steel, or something easier to use in your emergency pack.If you are camping or doing a barbecue, you got other means at your disposal. So, what do you guys intend to use it for?
$47 more! I almost want to increase my pledge just to do it.
Its fun. Its a neat accessory for our wonderful SAK. As far as an emergency tool? It sure couldn't be a bad thing to have with your SAK.

Just pledged in... again a very cool accessory idea
I'd say it shouldn't be a this vs that to best see how each can be a plus for one who does outdoorsy type stuff. The ferro rod works in all weather and when wet. Its dependable, consider both a lighter and ferro rod need tinder and there are possibilities and times when a lighter does and can fail. Loose that wheel and small flint and then what? I carry both.
... keep is updated when it arrived... wouldn't mind some pics too
