Thanx!!

BTW: If and when I will receive the LM tool, I will of course post pictures of it.
I will then also will post my last Leatherman Tool Tale here. In fact it is a story that I myself did not experienced, but a close former colleague of mine did. Be warned: It's a true, sad and bloody story. I didn't want to share it with you on the initial GAW, because it has such a bad ending.

Better late than never :pok:

I know, I know...
However, almost a year has past by now, and I never received anything from Leatherman. No GAW for me!  :dunno:
So, no sad story to share.  :(

Anyway, it's not a problem of course, because in fact I wasn't entitled to receive the GAW at all. It was LoopCutter who actually won the GAW and he was so friendly to gave the GAW me. Still thank him for that! I did reply to MTo after a few month, but to no avail. So I let it rest, and bought myself a Rebar Coyote (for collector's purposes only).
Case closed.

EMZ...

Would you be interested in a SOG Poweraccess to substitute the GAW prize you never got?

If so, all you have to do is say "yes", send me your details and I'll send it off personally.

Well... Yes... :D
That's a very generous offer! Thanks in advance.
In fact, I have no SOG knives or tools. Why not? I dunno... Maybe because I was 'raised' with first LM and later Victorinox. Last month I bought my very first Gerber multi-tool. It feels sort of cheating on LM and Vic.  :o
Tomorrow I'll PM you.

This is why I was hesitant to do a GAW hosted by an outside company (even a supposed reputable one...)  We had no control over the prize, or getting it to anyone and not much of a way to contact them that was reliable ::) So sorry about the way this one ended

Good on you Nick :salute: Sad that a member here is having to give something to make up for a GAW though :( We likely won't be doing something of this nature again :bnghd:

Poncho65, NO NEED TO SAY SORRY!!
It was the Leatherman company that didn't keep its promise.
To be honest, I've experienced far more worse things (although not many... :D)
Kidding aside, these GAW's are still nice initiatives.

I sent Mechanickal a PM.
I keep you guys posted!

It just feels wrong to leave EMZ empty handed.

Also, Leatherman... :twak:

Your quality is declining and the largest gathering point of your fans is being promised things they're not getting.

I hope everyone there realizes it's hard to build a brand, but even harder to rebuild it after letting it go to waste, of which you're well on your way to do so.

EMZ is ending up with a competitors tool because you guys didn't step up.
All talk, zero action. Boooh! Shame on you guys! I bet the stories were yours to use on the webpage anyway? Time to calibrate that moral compass too!
Remember that Google search ends up on this forum when people search for your brandname. Yes, even this page!

Now that I got that off my chest...

EMZ contacted me, and he'll have his new tool on the way soon.

That’s very nice of you Mechanickal!  :hatsoff:  :salute:

Also, this is one of several reasons why I am done with LM’s current offerings, they seem to have lost their way. :twak:

So, the SOG should be making it's way through the postal systems now and I expect it to show up at EMZ's place somewhere at the end of next week.

Can you believe he wanted to refund the shipping costs AND send something in return?? :sa:

What a lousy GAW it would be asking for a refund of shipping costs after offering it

A true gent though :hatsoff:

Obviously, since this is MTO, the SOG needed a small item to join it on it's travels through the lower countries 8)

 :woohoo:
Yesterday Mechanickal's GAW package came !!
What a surprise it was! It made my day, especially because I was having a balance disorder and was all day lying on the couch.
My first ever SOG, plus a nice LED mini flashlight, and a rubber MTo band.
What an exceptional gift from Nick, and of course from Loopcutter and Poncho65 who started this adventure.

In one hour I will be at the dentist. If I'm very lucky he will remove some old molars, if not I'm not so lucky (90% chance) I have to go to the dental surgeon. Wish me luck.
Later on I will give a small review of the SOG PowerAccess. And tell the story you all have been waiting for.

Thanks guys for all the sympathy! After all the hammering, drilling, pulling, twisting and spooning out in my jaw, I survived!  :tu:

Okay, here the story I promised to tell.

This is the story of a friend of mine when he was working as an uniformed police officer.
One day he and his colleague received a call from the dispatcher to go to a certain address where somebody was wounded. The information was kind of vague and the dispatcher could’t get much more info.
They arrived within minutes. Outside the house several bystanders were standing, walking and shouting, screaming in panic.
On the ground lay a girl, between 12 and 14 years old, on her back. Her clothes were all covered in blood. Not sure if she was still alive, the police officers automatically decided to give CPR on the spot. My friend drew his LM Wave, opened the OHO Serrated Knive with blunt nose, and started to cut her shirt and bra. He managed to cut her clothes, but than realized he had also stabbed her twice in the chest. In the hurry he hadn’t opened the Serrated Blade, but instead he unintentionally had opened the non-serrated very pointed knife!
Please realize this all happened within in seconds, trying to save a young girls life.

Shortly afterwards it turned out, that the girls had been stabbed multiple times in her heart by a family member. The poor girl died on the spot.
The wounds my friend administered to the victim were by no means fatal, these were only flesh wounds (although the blade hit the sternum bone), but he had to file an extra report to account for his actions.

This is also the reason that I don’t like pointed OHO knife blades in rescue tools. In my opinion on a rescue tool only the serrated blade should be a One-Hand-Opener, so there can be no wrong choices.

The mini review of the SOG PowerAccess!

I’m not going to take this multi-tool into the fields for testing. No, is stays in my collection drawer. However, a sort of superficial review can be done.

The first impression of this SOG is okay. It’s certainly not a cheap Chinese flim-flam tool. No, it is a decent tool of good quality.
Although I think the tolerances of the individual tools are less strict compared with the LM Rebar or the Vx Spirit. I also think the locks  of the SOG tool are weaker.
The handles have sharp edges. The Spirit and Rebar won’t hurt as much as the PowerAccess does.
I like the pliers of the SOG tool! Very tight, pointy and precise.
The knife blade is a little bit (too) small.

The PowerAccess weighs 174 grams, Rebar 188 g, and Spirit 206 g.
If you’re looking for a lightweight multi-tool for your bug-out bag, the PowerAccess will do an excellent job.
If you don’t care about the weight, I would opt for 1. the Rebar and 2. the Spirit.

Bit driver...?? I didn't notice it...
So I looked it up, and found a video that shows how the bit driver works. Indeed genius! It's a very simple feature the other tools don't have.
IMHO it now takes the SOG to the same level as the Rebar and Spirit.
