Looking over Atwoods stuff
on: January 09, 2009, 12:23:20 AM
While reading another thread on here i looked up this Atwood guy and boy does he have some nice stuff! Guess his tools are in such demand he has a lottery for them in order to purchase. The guy seems to take a lot of pride in his hand made prybars and knives. Craftsman like that are rare. He has some videos on Youtube also showing his handywork.

Yup, he sure does.

The tools are vastly overpriced, but are apparently top notch, so I had to own one

Gadget Guy and eodtech are big Atwood fans I believe. maybe they'll share some thoughts and pics with us ;)
I used to come here a lot.

So why is it so many folks have Atwoods and yet we have no Atwood Reviews on the main site?   :pok:

Pay Rate for reviewers really is substandard. However it appears that may change within the next week with some industry invcentives to " push out some paper in return for tangible product incentives and vittles ". At this point in my career a freebie review is out of the question especially if they expect me to BUY a product and then review it for them. Send me a product gratis,I'll do the review and then maybe donate it for a freebie lottery giveaway. Getting the product free has no bearing on my review, if I can't say anything nice about a product and it serves no useful purpose it just gets returned with a note or goes for a give a way or the Goodwill / Salvation Army store.

Not sure if you missed the point or not, but Def was talking about reviews for the MTO main page.

I have a couple, a Ti Flat Gasbaby and a Funnybone and I really like them.  The Gasbaby is very thin and light yet increadibly strong so it great for keychain carry.  The Funnybone is a really nice piece.  The whole thing oozes quality and the build and finish is top notch.  :tu:  I EDC both of these and have used both many many times.  They are great tools to suppliment your other MT's, SAK's and knives.
I'm back!!

From a recent review on Amazon.com -----  SAVE THE THUMBS :tu: :tu: :tu:. I love my Gerber Artifact tool, but there's one issue. The blade arm is difficult to swing out from its safety position for use. After weeks of daily use, I learned the hard way and sliced my thumb to the bone trying to open it. As I type this, my thumb is hovering unused and bandaged over the keyboard. Since then, I think I've figured out a safe way to open the blade arm and I wanted to share it to try to spare the thumbs of others -- use a coin to pry the blade arm out from its safety position. A quarter fits perfectly in the slot near the key chain loop on the tool. Stay safe.

Have not cut myself on a PA.......YET :tu:

I havent really found that mine is difficult to open or shut, but due to all of your warnings i DO take extra care while doing it.  Better safe than sorry right?!!

[Shamless Plugg] If you like the Atwood type tool, but don't like the price, take a look at "The Crony" by Morrow & Lamb Custom Tools.  I hear its pretty nice.... ::) :D :tu: [/Shamless Plugg]
