Walmart\Ozark Trail knives

    I know most of you out there will sneer at the thought of these knives  :rofl:, but I just wanted to make this quick post, Then all of you can get back to your Benchmades and Spyderco's!! Every year, Walmart comes out with pocket knives under their house brand, Ozark Trail. A lot of them come out at Christmas time and that is when I pick up most, but a few are also released during the course of the year. Most sell for about $4.87. They were $3.87 a few years back, but inflation rose their price a dollar. There are a few that have assisted openings, and they cost a wee bit more. The one I just got was $7.97. Now I am not saying that these are world class super quality knives, but for the price you pay for them, they are surprisingly well made! I probably have about 12-15 of them things laying around, and I will say this for them.

1. Every one I have purchased, has been paper cutting sharp right out of the package. I cannot say that about all of the brand name knives I have.
2. Every one except maybe 2 or 3, have had almost perfectly centered blades.
3. All of them I have have purchased have had no blade play in them, horizontal or vertical.  I have bought a few expensive ($80.00 or more) American made knives that cannot make that claim.

All three of these characteristics of folding knives should be an easy thing for any manufacturer to accomplish as they are pretty basic.  Here is a photo of a few of my Ozark Trail knives:


 


Has anybody else had the same experience with these knives?

I have.

Definitely can't afford all the fancy knives, that are trendy, today.
I always seem to make my way to the sporting goods section, whenever I go to Walmart,  and always check out the knives.
Last couple of years, I've picked up a few of the Ozark Trail knives,  and have yet to be disappointed. Granted, these are in no way "collector knives", but they're good users.  All have proven to be sharp, out of the package; well built with acceptable for and finish.
I even activity looked out for the OT Multiforce multitool based on discussions here.

Here are some, that I've bought, for various reasons.

Addicted to sharp pointy things.

Start a new thread with photos of your hobo knives in use Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of a Alox SAK for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate in a Challenge thread and post a photo  of 84 and 85 mm Swiss Army Knives (and Wengers) for 30 days Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of a MiniChamp SAK for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo of an Executive or Director for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a picture of a fish or fishing kit with a multitool Start a new thread with photos of your zip ties in use Start a new thread and post a photo of a flashlight as part of your EDC Must start a thread with a photo of your camo SAK Start a new thread with a photo of custom or non standard SAK scales in your collection

   I own all of those except for the fixed blade model. The Ozark Trail Multiforce Multitool, in my opinion is just as good, if not a little bit better than some of the lower end tools made by Gerber, Leatherman, and SOG!    :like:

My one and only Ozark Trail knife. I love the piercing on the blade.Seems to be a great knife;I just haven't put it into the EDC rotation yet.
