Songs have a power of bringing back a lot of memories/emotions be they good or bad. I was surfing the web looking for some information on Leatherman Juices when I stumbled upon Juice Newton's song "Playing with the Queen of Hearts". I played it and a rush of really good memories came back to me, and it struck me how iconic this song was for me. I looked it up and it dates to 1981 when I was summer vacationing in Blueberry Hill Campground just past the 1 mile hill west of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. That was a formative year for me. I was only 7 years old, and I didn't know it at the time, but my father was planning on moving from Cornwall Ontario to Sault Ste. Marie a few months later. That was an awesome summer, and the first time I heard the song. I can even remember it was a rainy day and I was stuck in our 19 foot trailer with a few Weird War and G.I Combat comics to keep me occupied, and the radio playing. I had my Hobo knife that my father gave me the summer before when we spent the summer in Elliot Lake, another Northern Ontario city. I was using the Hobo on a cup of chicken noodles with egg pieces in it. My dad was out in town picking up groceries, and my mother was sitting in the seat reading a novel. This was before she had a stroke which paralyzed her on her left side...so remembering her before that are always good memories. They both are long gone...but listening to that song brought a lot I had forgotten, or really thought I had...back.
Are there any songs that have left an indelible impression on you much like Playing with the Queen of Hearts did for me? I would love to hear them if you are willing to share.
