Day 19 addendum.

With all the talk about which is best I just had to try Vegemite again.  After-all it's been a LONG time since I had any.  I didn't take a photo but I was surprised to see that the Vegemite is notably both thicker and darker than the Marmite.  In the interest of fairness I attempted to spread an even amount of each.

So who won?

Well, Marmite, obviously.  :D  I was genuinely surprised by how relatively mild the Vegemite is compared to the Marmite.  Has a similar flavour profile for sure but is much less punchy and sharp than the Marmite.  Not unpleasant at all but I'll not be swapping my breakfast spread of choice any time soon.

Oh, and Evo S11 World Scout Knife to try and keep this post vaguely relevant.  :D
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

I think one of the great uses for a Swiss Army Knife is to scratch away mistakes on paper when you write with a pen.
I have a collection of fountain pens, and been making good use of my S17 as an ink eraser.
At Victorinox they talk about the "pen blade" that was included in their early Swiss Officer knives.  The little
blade was useful for neatly scraping away the ink when mistakes were made in absence of White Out.
The Evolution S17 doesn't have a pen blade, but the main blade is plenty sharp and still compact and precise enough to
scrape away the fine lines on the surface of the paper with enough control so as not to make a hole in the page.  Works good.

Love the 149 and Grand viceroy Victorian!

:like: good to see you have both Gareth

I’ll have to get some Marmite and do the test myself, I’ve always liked it just prefer Vegemite but it’s really down to what you get used to I reckon :tu:

It's the cocaine of, well, whatever vegemite comes from.  :pok:

PS-Looked up what vegemite comes from, and I'm sure I won't be looking for any soon.   :-\

I know Vegemite is (somewhat?) available in other countries, but I'm not sure how easily available Bonox is?
Maybe it could be an added bonus, some kind of credit or such, for those who can do a challenge within the challenge. A breakfast of Vegemite on toast washed down with a nice hot mug of Bonox.
The trick is that you have to also keep it down  :duel:
The Vegemite lovers are half way there already. I'm game.  :dunno:

Game on!  :D I'm going to have to get some Bonox and Marmite at some point it would seem  :tu:

I've been in a few challenges that were taken over by bacon pics - is Vegemite the new bacon?

I was thinking the same Tet, who'd have guessed  :dunno:

Ahhhh, shoot.....

I'm reading this whilst sipping my tea and just having finished me toast. Tomorrow I'll grab a shot of my Vegemite toast.

Bonox? Never heard of it. Never seen it. So I'll lose this challenge......

I see that there are some other Aussie brands, such as Promite. Have you ever tried any of those spreads?

By the way, that breakfast looks tempting  :gimme:

Can't say I had heard of Bonox before now.  Looking it up it sounds similar to our Bovril.  I'll have a look sometime but I suspect I'd struggle to find Bonox as easily as I did the Vegemite. Does it count that I really enjoy a mug of Marmite to drink every so often?

Like with the Bonox, I’ve seen Promite in the shops and may well have tried it over the years and can’t remember, but never bought it.

I have bought Marmite before but I’m just so used to Vegemite I get a large jar and then have it most days…I do like peanut butter sometimes for a change

Did some fine scissor work with my Evolution S17 today.

I find while the Victorinox scissors work like a champ with ease every time, with the serrated scissors of my S17
it just requires the right technique for different applications.  For harder surfaces like plastics and tough fabrics, those serrated blades chew down like a pit bull and get the job done!

Love SAK scissors, they are so handy and useful for those intricate cutting tasks!   :like:

Day 19: I cut up some sizeable fallen limbs for kindling. Mostly used a Stihl MS170; but I used the saw for the smaller limbs to avoid accidental binding.

Just wondering what the project is?  I agree about the scissors; the serrations really work well in some circumstances.  :tu:

He’s also created a second option with both Wenger and Victorinox crosses, so which do you prefer?

Day 19 (Wing Challenge Day):

GADad threw out a wing challenge and I accepted....

Rangergrip had no trouble trimming off the wing tips. I thought I took a shot of the 'post-trimming' action, but apparently all I actually captured was the scene before the work got done:

However, I did get a shot of the finished wings:

I grilled the wings outside, then dressed 'em once done. My sauce was a head-exploding variation of the classic Buffalo Hot Wings sauce: butter, Crystal Hot sauce, Rubin's XXXX hot sauce, Tabasco sauce, chipotle chile powder, black pepper, garlic powder, a touch of honey, and a big pinch of salt. Oh, a small splash of apple cider vinegar to keep it tart.

I figured it would be best with some classic blue cheese dip. Made this with loads of blue cheese.

I have to say that the sauce was much hotter than I expected. After eating about half the wings, I was sweating like a marathon runner and my nose was running like a sprinter. I was really glad to have that blue cheese dip to cool things off between wings.

Might have to make some more, soon......
