Custom Mountaineer (Modeler) gets some fresh scales

My custom Mountaineer (Modeler) got some new clothes today. The light sapphire translucent scales came from a promo SAK with a Jeep Wrangler screen print that wasn't too difficult to polish out. It's the only example of these translucent scales that I have and I quite like them.

Very pretty.  Goes well with the magnifier.  Where did you get the magnifier?

Thanks all - I was a bit of a traditionalist when I first got into SAKs...they had to all be red cellidor. But the translucents have really grown on me with the semi-naked view that lets you see the rivets  ::), especially with this light sapphire colour. Victorinox seems to have moved away from offering a range of translucent colours - only red and blue now available (outside SilverTech, which is painted on the inside). I will certainly look for more of these scales...

Fantastic combination of blue and brass!  And that mag glass is surely a looker!  Great job, Max!

Wow, very nice work indeed

I got a Climber in the same light blue translucent scales that I hadn't seen before. I'm planning on giving it to someone as their first SAK but I'm wondering if I should carefully remove the light blue translucent scales for someone who wants them as part of their collection as they seem rather rare.

They are less common, but not impossible to find. For a first SAK, you can't go wrong with the classic cellidor red and save the translucents  :tu:

That's what I was planning to do. Classic red for a first, especially on a Climber.

I don't think I'd use the light blue trans scales though... I already have a set of yellow and silvertechs that need models to go on.

While at my local Vic agent, I managed to pic up the last couple of light sapphire translucent scales they had squirreled away. I'll need to think of a good SAK to put them on....mmm, maybe an old Explorer or SC.

Nice find Max! Those are my favorite color to salvage from beat up users.

Did you check the date code on them? I’ve found lots from ‘04. Often on Spartan Lites.

Looks like a range covering '05, '06 and '07...and you can see that these came off production knives, although the outside surfaces are unblemished, so probably scale changes at time of sale.
