Nice. You can never go wrong with a N-frame! And 44 mag makes it even better.

Yes that is a model 29 in 44 mag. Looks like we cast the same bullets as well 429421? I like mine with 2400 or better yet unique. FYI the fish scaler makes a great emergency extractor.

I use bullets cast by a local company, Rim Rock. I'm not sure which mold they use. But I like 'em! 225 gn (gas checked) / 2400. I've used Unique, but for awhile it was tough to find and I ended up using Universal. AA#9 will move one down range well, too.  I dabble way too much and would be wiser to settle on a good load and leave it at that.  :)

Elmer and Skeeter both had some pretty good loads. After all my dabbling I ended up going back to the beginning and using those. Unique is my go to for quite a few different things, so I try to keep stocked up.

Unique is the multitool of handgun powders.   :D

Oooops, I just saw that I said I was loading "225 gn" cast bullets. Not so. They are 255 gn gas-checked.

I load 240 gn & 300 gn rounds, too. The 300 gn rounds are 'truncated cone' shaped. And slow. But the sectional density seemed handy.

Yup, that'd be the 429421 Elmer's favorite! I agree with that on unique. Plus I use it in 45-70 and 38-55, the deer don't seem to know the difference between unique and any other powder. 2400 seems to work better for my 30-30 and -06. That's also a good 44mag powder. You might say that they are the swiss army knife of powders!

Day 8

Safety briefing with the entire crew this afternoon.
 :D
Headed out to check bear bait spots now that the rain has stopped. Don't forget the more other stuff you carry, the less you'll notice the weight of the swisschamp!
Love the leather and those boots

To be fair Barry that's an over engineered file for the problem isn't it? A bit like taking a lump hammer to a drawing pin.

DAY 9
Picked up another dozen decoys for goose season. As usual had to use the awl to enlarge the hole to attach anchor line, scissors to cut line and pliers to tighten knots. Oh yeah and small blade to open all the boxes and packaging. Only 23 more days until opener. Looks like the swisschamp might see some goose cleaning duties if all goes as planned.
