For use or collecting?

I just looked and all are on ebay if you don't mind paying $300USD for a Hybrid or Vista, or $550USD for a Genus.  :o

Like all things, getting in on the ground floor when things are up to date and new is always the cheapest option if you can. I would never pay those prices for anyone of them. I got these back in 2009 when they were relatively still common.

I'm surprised that Leatherman haven't dug up the old tooling for some of their discontinued tools and made some more of the rarer ones that are now selling for crazy high prices (eg MP650, Genus, Hybrid and Vista pruners).  It seemed to work out OK for them with the PST  :pok:

Yes, but there is a big difference between reviving the original and most iconic Leatherman Tool (that was wildly popular and in production for over twenty years), and reviving a line of gardening multitools that presumably didn't sell well the first time. They're expensive now because they're collectible, not because there is huge demand for gardening multitools outside of the collector market.
Current SAKs: Explorer, SwissChamp, Handyman (modded), Climber, Super Tinker, Tinker, Woodsman (modded), Electrician, Pioneer, SwissTool, Executive, Ambassador, Champion Plus
Current Leatherman tools: PST, Original Wave, Wave, Wave+, Blast, Bond, Curl, Style PS, Micra

Even at their lowest price I think you're much better off using dedicated gardening tools. I imagine they would need regular cleaning from fumbling through the tools with dirty hands and I would hate to use the little saw (even though it's big for a multitool) all day or even for an hour or so in the garden, I would much rather use a proper pruning saw.
Having suitable sheaths to hold secateurs, saw and knife on your person would help.
As for the sprinkler tool (if needed), perhaps it could be modded into an existing multitool? Or reside in another tool's sheath?
The Genus in particular is a cool design but I'm not sure about using it's fold-out tools whilst the secateurs are poking out the back.

It may be a different story for hunters and the Vista where having everything in one such package would be good.

Just my 2c of course.  :salute:

It would only have been a tool I carried when I was walking around outside in my yard (I have lots of trees and a long driveway that also has to be trimmed and maintained) and came up on something that needed trimmed or pruned ;) I have plenty of regular tools but it would be nice to have some small folding pruners with me  :D
