Parts For my old PST #3
on: September 13, 2021, 03:16:16 PM
I am very upset about my friend which I let him use my 20 years old PST for I don't know what yet...
He return mine with the plier  tip broken. I was very upset , but I  didn't show  it. This will be  given to one of my sons when I pass on the other side, now I have a broken Leatherman..
This unit is out of production and I am looking for a replacement for the part.
All of you, who are listening if  you could give me a link  where I could buy a replacement at a fair price, I saw on Ebay  the equivalent plier for about the price of a new one. I want to keep my old one it has been through  a lot of  repair stories.
To  all of you thank you to try, Bruno

Parts for a discontinued product are always going to be on the high side.  Keep checking eBay... people occasionally sell broken tools for a low price, and you can harvest your pliers off of one of those.  Right now there is one for sale for $25 which isn't too bad.

Welcome to  :MTO:

Sorry to hear about your old tool being broke

Yet another reason why I try not to let people borrow much

I hope you can track down the part you need to fix it :salute:

Same here.  I also don't have friends that wouldn't repair or replace something of mine that they broke... or they wouldn't be one for long.

You can always try Etsy. There is a vendor there (can’t recall right now the name) that sells Leatherman parts even old ones.

In eBay I was able to score an old beat up Fuse for cheap by being patient. I needed it since I broke the locking mechanism on mine when I was modding my Knifeless Fuse to include a saw. I’d offer you the plier head but it really was beat up.

So don’t give up hope the parts are out there. Don’t forget to reach out to Loki in this forum if you need the wrenches to dismantle the tool.

Good luck.

You might also try more local online venues: Craigslist, OfferUp, and such. Yard sales and flea markets (or car-boot sales, depending on your location) could be good options. Maybe even a local knife club could be of assistance. Hope you're able to get your PST3 repaired.

I am also very cautious about who I lend my tools to. It's about gotten to the point that if I don't know how someone treats tools, they'll have to give me collateral of equal value before I let them use my tools.

AustinSchoolHouse is the name of the Etsy vendor. I've bought multiple parts from him/her, very reasonably priced for what are essentially new Leatherman parts (the fact that we're both in Texas no doubt helps with the shipping). He has a PST plier head listed for $19.99 right now.
Current SAKs: Explorer, SwissChamp, Handyman (modded), Climber, Super Tinker, Tinker, Woodsman (modded), Electrician, Pioneer, SwissTool, Executive, Ambassador, Champion Plus
Current Leatherman tools: PST, Original Wave, Wave, Wave+, Blast, Bond, Curl, Style PS, Micra
