what is the best way to clean the diamond file?, i just use to clean a sharp edge on my desk plastic corner and the file is covered with plastic dust

Some nice warm soapy water or honing oil works well! I'd use the crosscut file next time...

I was wondering the same for awhile now. tried Goo Gone after reading about it on here, works amazing. wish i had taken before and after pics.

Sweet tip!  Flushed the diamond file on my New Wave with Goo Gone and the stuff just disappeared!  Great way to clean up the file.

try use pencil eraser (rubber eraser). work well for my case on all my LM diamonds coated files

I use a light steel wool.  Works great.  Goo Gone works good too.

I would think a stiff toothbrush and warm soapy water can do a good job.

I use a soft white eraser on the diamond file.

Cleans any gunk on it just fine.

The other side I clean with a standard file card.

How do I take care of my sharpener?

Clean your DMT® sharpener after each use with water and wipe dry. After several sharpenings, use a mild kitchen abrasive cleanser and a nylon scrub brush (an old toothbrush works well too). Comet, Ajax, and Zud work well. Make sure the sharpener is dry before putting it away.
