When was the last time you got a speeding ticket?

Got pulled over last night. Highway Patrol claimed I was going 17 over. I think it was 12 over, but was over regardless. Frustrated as I see many going much faster and never getting pulled over, but I know I was over. More frustrated in how convoluted the process is to do traffic school and pay online. It’s just as inefficient as it was the last time I got a ticket, approximately 13 years ago. Sad they haven’t made this process anymore efficient.

I haven't got my ticket yet but a speeding camera got me. First time I, only had one parking ticket before.. But I drove to fast and I know it so not much to do

Did this just happen to you? Ya I hear ya. As I said I’m more annoyed at the convoluted process to sort it out. I know I was over the limit, but that’s actually the norm in California. The traffic flow is generally 10-15mph over the limit on roads with speed limits of 50mph and above. Only on slower limits like 35mph do people go maybe 5-10mph over.

I got 6 points (12 gets you disqualification normally) for driving without due care and attention 20 years again so started sticking to the speed limit like glue as did not want to risk another 3 points for speeding.
By the time the points came off my license  I think 4 years later I was well in the habit of adhering to the speed limits and still do.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

Ya thankfully this is rare for me. I’ve been driving for about 24 years and this is my 3rd ticket. Seems I get one about every decade.

So I’ll do traffic school to not get a point. This then forces me to drive more paranoid for 2 years as you can only do traffic school once in an 18 month window (in my state at least).

A speeding ticket :think: hmm, maybe back in 99? I mean one other time I kinda got pulled over but technically the wife and I were already sitting on the side of the road, it was an interstate with bumper to bumper traffic, and a tow truck comes whipping up the side where there not suppose to, and he starts honking, flashing telling me to get back in traffic, now this was back in Philly so I’m sure you can guess what I did :whistle: needless to say he cb radioed the police who whipped up right behind us, he comes along side the suv, and he’s like what’s the problem, why aren’t you in traffic? It seems you had a little problem with a tow truck? I’m like no sir, I didn’t move from where I am right now! But our son (who was only in diapers) started crying and needed to be fed and I was not driving while he is not restrained! The officer was like, very good son, if any other tow truck or vehicle tells you to move while he’s not restrained here, here’s my card and tell them to call me, in the mean time I’m going to go find that tow truck!

My last was in September 2002, and my first was in about February 2002. There was another between those two. All of those were gifted to me when I was in Virginia. Nowadays I stick to the speed limit.

Some of them are. The one who wrote me my first ticket gave me grief about my window tint, and then acted like he was doing the most altruistic thing ever by not writing me a fix-it ticket. The second one was cool enough to save me a reckless driving charge. (In that case, I maintain that the speed limit sign should have been posted well before I got up to 35 MPH, not about the point where I saw blue lights in my rear view mirror.) Yes, earlier this week. In Sweden there are cameras out up on some road and I knew it was there because I drive on that road at least once every week but I was in a hurry and didn't look at what speed I was driving. Saw a big flash and now I have to wait for the photo and ticket to come in the mail

My last speeding ticket would have been around the late 1970's, going way too fast on my recently purchased Honda 750 'bike.  The cop was pretty cool as I was only speeding for a very short time so he wrote me up for quite a bit less than I was actually doing.. 

My missus reckons I'm overdue for one in my Golf R, but I use the cruise control a lot so that reduces the chance of getting caught.  Lots of speed camera vans where I drive.

As a general rule, I don't speed  but even so I got one maybe ten years ago.  I was not amused as I wasn't doing anywhere near the 30km over the limit they claimed I was.

I managed to get it down to 20km over the limit (yay  :facepalm:) but still got the joy of paying a $200 fine and a week's suspension.

That's the only time I've ever gotten a speeding ticket.

Got my one and only about six years ago.  Didn't notice a step down in the speed limit (70mph down to 50mph) and got caught on a camera.  Fair enough.

Oh you are in Sweden. I was driving my V90 Cross Country when I got pulled over.

Amazon’s are indeed neat. But I’m partial to wagons. I loved that turbo in-line 5 in my old V70R. It had such a good sound. The 6-speed manual (M66 transmission) was also a total joy. But the car was 15 years old and I wanted to get out from it before the seriously expensive maintenance started to come up. The special adjustable 4C shocks for instance would about $1000 each. That plus labor would end up being almost the whole value of the car. The big Brembo brakes were also not cheap, and the rotors on all four corners were about to hit minimum thickness.

I’m really happy with the V90CC though. Don’t miss the V70R at all.
