Varies from no limit to 21, with at least one country forbidding the local sale altogether.

It used to be 16 in many countries, I seem to recall, thought has now risen to about 18 in general, at least in Europe.

I bought and smoked my first cigarettes at age 14.
But that´s a long time ago, now you have to be 18.

Apparently the United States raised the legal age to 21 last year and I was completely unaware. It had no effect on me, as I turned 21 last century. I don't smoke much anymore, partially because my days of getting a pack of Camels for $3.10 are long over.

I don't smoke and never really did other than the odd cigar, but the limit here is 19.
