Well TWO  Spyderco reps at the Shot Show told me the R2  Spyderco that I have been carrying daily for 2 years is quite a rare and sought after knife. The R2  was cleaned, polished and boxed and put into storage this past month. Now I have a new Spyderco D’Allara Drop Point, partially serrated edge folding knife, model C82PSBK2, normally I would opt for a PE, however this NIB PS was on eBay for under $50 delivered.  New York City Police Officer John D'Allara entered but never exited World Trade Center Building One on September 11, 2001. Officer D'Allara was a life-long Spyderco collector . In his commemoration and remembrance Spyderco offered up the C82BK2 D'Allara Drop Point Folder. It presents the knife market a high-performance folder option with a premium VG-10 stainless steel blade and a hard-use rated lock system called the Ball Bearing LockTM. Its contoured handle is molded from impact-resistant fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) and patterned with grip-sticking Bi-Directional TexturingTM. Engineered to ergonomically fill the hand, the handle’s curves and valleys generate less fatigue and discomfort when grasped tightly or when cutting for extended time. The drop-point blade is made with cobalt enhanced VG-10 stainless steel packing 3-1/2 inches (89mm) of cutting power. Pulling back on the ball bearing releases the locking mechanism. Fully open the folder is 8” (203mm) long and weighs 5.75oz (164g)

The pocket clip on the D'Allara makes a perfect money clip

My EDC knife selection changes often, though I carry a Spyderco Native frequently.  I've been going "old style" this week, carrying my 1990 vintage Buck 501 Squire in its leather belt case.

I have a soft spot for the Buck 501. It was my 1st real knife. My parents gave one to me when I was 10 or so. Before then I only had cheap stuff.
