New Old Stock Colonial TL-29 Electrician Knife
on: July 31, 2022, 09:19:47 PM
Been craving old school Slipjoint and have fallen into the TL-29 rabbit hole.

Found this: https://wardogmilitaria.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30&products_id=4706

for a little under $17. The new version cost brand new for $74. eBay also cost more than this site.

Limited stock so I ordered 2. Once I get it I’ll verify quality and customer service. Also if legit.

Arrived today! Conditions as promised. One knife unfortunately the lock will not engage if the screwdriver is opened too softly but I think once the pivot smooths out with use it should start working properly. I don’t think it’s a brass liner lock issue. The knife is stiff the walk and talk is not quite snappy which is why the lock does not engage. Blades are sharp but could be sharper.  Blades wobble slightly.

All in all great knives. These are military issues so the issues I mentioned above didn’t bother me, I was half expecting it. Still functional and they look and feel tank proof.

No worries! I was able to fix the lock by the way. Since it was made of brass I just folded the blade slightly against the lock and scraped against the pivot area a few times. Works perfectly now.

Used it to slice some fruit. Cant wait to sharpen it when it gets dull.

So, these are original Colonials from the '90s and earlier, not the modern remakes from CKC, correct?

They look identical to the knife in the CKC site but tang stamped 2012.

I was able to get some early Klein and Imperial NOS. If I am dating these correctly.

Cool knife. The Colonial has loosened up some so easier to open. I’m going to try to sharpen it just to make it slice as easy as my cadet.
