Here is my machete collection to date.



Top is a Harbor Freight 5.99 special , just a beater to use outside. Feels pretty good in the hand , especially at about 6 bucks. Somewhat sharp.
 
Second from top is my Army - Navy store Ontario 18 inch machete. This one is a bit thicker and feels like more of a chopper than a slasher.  Ran about 30 bucks. Very solid feeling. Moderately sharp.


Third from top is a Tramontina from Brazil. This one was a coworkers that passed away in Mexico a couple of years ago. This was his machete he favored while we were bush wacking thru the thick east Texas forests. I think i know why he favored this one out of all the machetes we had at work. Light and nimble, feels very great in the hand. Made for working all day and not feel like you're swinging a 10 pounds sledge . If you're thinking about buying a machete , this Tramotina looks to be a solid choice.


The bottom has a bit of history to it. Our yard at work started as a steel plant to supply the early east Texas oil fields in the 30s. I find wheat pennies, old glass jars, mercury dimes, marbles, and some other old relics . I found this Collins Legitimus machete between the walls in one of the metal corrugated sheds. It was pretty rusty but it's coming along on the cleanup.  Think it's from the 40's to 60's but still trying to figure out.

I know Collins made machetes for our military during WWII. Yours may well be one of them. Regardless of its provenance, I wouldn't have left it between the shed walls either! :tu: (I'd awlso be interested in seeing the coins and marbles you find.)

Must start a thread with a photo of at least five (5) of your watches Build your own version of an MRE using off-the-shelf components, post a photo of the completed MRE and store at room temperature for 6 days or more. Consume the MRE after the storage period and post pictures and descriptions of the contents. Take part in the christmas pool or a rak type giveaway. Those wanting to say thank you for a rak may also nominate for the santa. Participate in a Challenge and post a photo of a Utility Knife for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate  in a Challenge thread and post a photo of a LM Pocket Survival Tool for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo of the multitool for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo of the pen for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread with photos of your zip ties in use
