Back in the day I made a cover for a mini composition book, looked like crap but hey it protected the book, but back in 2017, the Mrs got in touch with a leather worker and she had a custom cover made just for me, totally fits a mini composition book like a glove, it was kinda a good idea cause the wallet was on one side yet then the notebook and hankie on the other so it balanced the backbone rather then the one side always being off,,  :dunno: but yeah, you get some of those best ideas and *poof* 30sec later you have no clue what the heck you were even thinking about! Same thing goes for right next to the bed, I actually have a notebook with pens that at the very tip light up, all so you don’t have to turn lights on!

You can't beat the mini composition notebooks, especially the ones that are stitched instead of glued.
I made my own cover with some scrap leather from the hobby store.  Definitely better than the duct tape cover that I once had.

Thanks for a good read! I always have a field notes book with me for writing down everything from random thoughts, to do lists, books I want to read, stuff I want, projects to start, leatherwork ideas etc. I have been doing it for 7 years now and are on "book 9" now

I love the field notes book because it's thin (I'm a right handed but write with my left) and can't have thick books

Interesting topic! I'll probably throw pictures up at another day, but I've edc'd notepads for about 4 years now. My wallet works as a cover for a XS volant from Moleskin, along with carrying a space pen. I use a pocket sized notepad for work and day-to-day notes, I favour a waterproof one from Polymath Products, and I have one more notepad that's slightly larger with bamboo covers for YT videos, future product work and so on.

Having some emergency cash is a very good idea, and something that is becoming increasingly important in the strange times we live in. Great tip, BT :tu:

Though I feel increasingly out-of-step with modern society, I still use quite a bit of cash, and usually have a couple hundred dollars on me.  Some small merchants don’t accept cards (and even when they do, I sometimes pay cash anyway to save them the processing fee).  I’ve also encountered the “our credit card machine is broken” issue.

Has anybody here have “Log and Jotter pocket notebook subscription??
Though it’s a few pages less than a Field Notes. Still, one notebook a month for $5.00( $8.50 for two) sounds like a decent deal :dunno:

Those do look good.  I have quite a supply of Moleskine notebooks I picked up at the flea market and thrift stores.  My daughter bought me a selection of Field Notes as well one Christmas.

I have two large journals( one for “diary” use and my famous diabetes medical log) , but the pocket notebooks I use for my Personal use. Similar to what Leonardo DaVinci did with his personal notebooks. And any pertinent information gets transferred to one of the two respective large notebooks.
As you can see in the picture bellow 🤔👍

I broke down and decided to do the 1book($5.00 a month)
Subscription. If these notebooks are quality , I’ll up it to the 2 book($8.50 a month) subscription. If it’s quality is junk, I’ll just cancel
