It's been one of the warmest Christmas I had experienced, closer to 30C...
It's 16 degrees Fahrenheit (-9 Celsius) here. I will gladly and unhesitatingly trade you. :D

I used my Executive to help open this Hunstman from my wife!
Congratulations! :like:

The day is off to a fine start!

Wishing everyone a happy day, with thoughts and prayers for those who have been caught up in war at a time when we would rather be celebrating peace on Earth and goodwill towards awl.

Congratulations! :like:

Thanks! I needed one for my MacGyver collection but it’s also a great model to take with me now that I’m getting back into camping and hiking.

DAY 25

MERRY XMAS!   :drink:
Having a really great day today. Used the main blade on the black executive to open this present from m'lady.
 A rangerwood 55  :ahhh

This is going to make a really great camping and bushcrafting knife.

Merry Christmas to awl and to awl a goodnight.  :hatsoff:

Merry Christmas Awl!

Day 25

Took apart MIL's wheelchair lift to try and swap a battery. Exec struggled a bit on one of the screws and was assisted by a Farmer X, but was able to handle 5/6 without difficulty. Pretty good for a little guy.

General's Quote: That to me is a bunch of crap trying to shoot guys up into damned space. What they’re going to do is they’re going to wipe out half a dozen people one of these days, and that will be the end of it.

Closer to 30°F here.  One of the coldest for me.

Merry Christmas everyone.
That's pretty cold!   I have learnt to keep warm in a cold weather is to chase behind a toddler/young kid, it surely will raise up the core temperature in no time.  :D

:D I lived many years in the Windy city, and it was never the cold that killed, but the wind got me every freaking time.  Stay warm!

Day 26

Executive helped cut open a new bottle of rubbing alcohol for cleaning.

I know this is not a thread about folding knives, but can't help but to sing praise for the newly re-released Cold Steel Verdict.  I used it in the previous month, the ease of opening and closing, 4116 steel(very similar to Vic steel) and security of Tri-ad lock are really what's great about this knife.

Seems like my prediction was correct.
Yesterday,  I replaced/added a total of 4 sets of batteries, not to mention cutting off 5 or 6 sets of the "Do not remove" tags from everything from dolls to sleeping bags.

And here it is the day after Christmas and yet another set of batteries.

Hope everyone had a fantastic day yesterday.

Day 26, touched up the blades a bit. Handled quite a few presents yesterday, hope all of you had a great Christmas.

Congratulations! :like:

I lived many years in the Windy city...
I went to boot camp near there. The only explanation I have for the U.S. Navy doing all recruit training in Great Lakes, Illinois is that the central location saved them money on airfare.

Indeed they are! :tu:

A great Day 26, y'awl!

Day 26

The Executive and a friend destroyed some receipt paper. While the friend's edge could use some touching up, they got the job done.

Day 26 (Boxing day):

No boxes to open, but I did use the small blade to remove the safety seal on a jar of pickles. Sorry, no action shot.

Between holidays, cold and a few other things; I hadn’t got a chance to post the last two days.

Day 24
Executive removed the tamper seal on a medicine bottle

Day 25
The Executive removed the plastic from the Christmas ham.

DAY 26

Used the orange peeler to tighten a screw on my sunglasses and then used it again as a poker tool for my pipe- it works really well for both these tasks.

The more I carry it- the more this little knife is growing on me and the harder it becomes to choose between carrying the executive or my beloved minichamp.
This is why I'm becoming a big fan of challenges because ya never know how things will turn out  :ahhh

Cheers to awl

Day 26. Boxing Day - Late !

Yesterday ran away with me and the Executive and I did nothing useful and this rubbish pic is the only proof of it. And I was late thinking I needed a pic too. Oh well maybe today will be better - all round !

:like: I understand that completely!  I think the Executive is going to ride with me a while after this Challenge.

For Day 27, we're just hanging out so far.

That does make sense, and I am guessing part reason could be because way back when the trains were the main transportation, Illinois was the central hub that probably most railways would go thru.

My Dad went there in 1944 and my father in law in 1959.  Both of them got there by train so that makes sense.  I always thought it was about as close to North Atlantic conditions as the Navy could find rail service to

The railway hub makes a lot of sense and even know with air travel it is also a major hub such that can probably get direct flights from most major cities.

I spent September 1998 through all of 2000 there, but at the training command side.

The Boss Lady has gone for work this morning leaving me and my sidekick to our own.  Little ones got an assortment of candles in their stockings for Christmas so Patch was on opening duty today.
