Adding a Wenger collector badge
on: July 12, 2023, 08:32:16 AM
There are a fair few Wenger fans at MTo, so I figured why not have a Wenger collector badge? I propose it would work like the Alox colors badges: five Wengers for Level 1, eight Wengers for Level 2, and 12 Wengers for Level 3. I don't think Victorinox Delemonts would count for this proposed badge, though.

Nothing official has been done yet. This is a "gauging interest" thread. Besides me, who's interested in having a Wenger Collector badge?

Sounds good to me mate, about time for another 30 Day Delemont challenge methinks
Will have to pencil it for next year, last time was October 21 so well overdue

So you'd suggest a Delemont badge too then? Rude not to I suggest  :pok:

In!   I have a dozen or so Wengers and would love a badge or two.   They become more and more collectable as he years go by, too.

I don't believe so.  A question about badge creation was posted to the Q and A subforum, and I've been led to believe I should ask a mod about this. The only question is: which mod is the biggest Wenger fan?

All right team, we have the green light on the Wenger Collector Badges!   :woohoo:

And... we have the very talented comis on board to help design and create them.   :tu:   :like:

Thank you Farmer X and comis, I look forward to seeing this happen.

It is highly possible we could get another Wenger badge done at the same time.

If you have any ideas about this ie Standard Issue, SwissGrips, Evolutions Series whatever, now is the time to speak up.

Hi, all.  Thanks zoidberg for the intro and happy to be here to help.

Being a SAK enthusiast, I too am a fan for Wenger and Delemont.  It is entirely possible to make up two series of badges, one for the OG Wenger and the other for Delemont.

And to be coherent to previous badges, may I suggest we could utilize the similar color scheme green > yellow > red for the collector levels?

Here are the current badges for 111, 130 and Alox:

For now, I think I would go ahead and start drafting something, just to get the conversation started.

Hi, all.

Found some me time and designed a few drafts for your comments:

I am thinking utilizing something a little bit brighter than the original green/yellow/red, so to make some distinction from the traditional red/yellow/green colors that SAKs collector badges were using.  These small badges will go onto your banner after acquiring the merit:

For the 'application page, here are the designs for the larger badge (just like the small badges, we will have green/yellow/red for applying, based on the level of collecting):

Questions:

1)  Are we happy with the current vibrant colors or would everyone prefer the original green/yellow/red?

2)  For the background of the larger badges, would you prefer the black, grey or white background?  I personally like either the grey or black, the Wenger cross is easier to read.  The black background does loosely resemble what you will see on a Wenger scale.  What would you prefer?

Fun news!  My votes:

1) Love the new more vibrant colors.

2) No strong preference, but black would seem to be the easiest to discern.

Thanks Comis!

I had thought the Wenger cross might make the collector badges indistinct from the Delémont challenge badge, but I was wrong. They look fantastic!

To answer the questions comis asked: I'm fine with either the new vibrant look or the original scheme. My preferred background colors would be black, gray, and white, in that order.

Thank you to comis for the design excellence, and to zoidberg for really getting the ball rolling! :hatsoff:

Cool to see a Wenger badge coming! This might be the first one I might apply for.  :tu: I'm not a big collector but I should make it to level one.

I like all of your designs proposals. My favorites are the white and the black background (in that order).

Best regards,
Luke

As the designer of the Delemont badge (and creator of the challenge) I’ve kind of got skin in the game and I think they compliment it really well

Great to see you around, Comis! Hope you are doing well .

If I were into badges, I would go for the black background, but personally I am more of a fridge magnet man ;-)

Cheers,

Simon

Hi, Simon!  Good to see you too!  Been really so busy with family for the past year or so, I do hope to have more time to myself and take a breather after Little guy get into a grade school next year.  Having said that, I definitely have not forgotten the fridge magnet project, and still owe many of you the last batch a year or so ago.   Not a day goes by without me feeling guilty about the long drag, and I really do need to get more organized and squeeze time to get this over with.  :ahhh

Hi, all!

Thanks for all the feedback, meanwhile I drafted up another version of the small badge, so instead of 'WENGER' (which is a little hard to read), it will now read 'Level 1' (or which ever level it is for the badge) which is easier to read:

A)     OR

B)    ?
