$180 Gerber MP600
on: January 02, 2024, 07:33:18 PM
As someone who is into DIY automotive stuff, I found this interesting. Here is a Gerber made MP600 for Snap-On tools. Look at the tool set and notice what it does not have. No can opener or bottle opener. It has the blade exchanger in it. I would like to see a Center Drive or Dual Force version. What you have is a custom ordered MP600 with red paint. Looking at the Gerber website, they do not make the MP600 in this tool set. I like it, but $180? Put the Snap-On name on it and the price doubles. LOL

There is a used Snap-On MP600 on eBay listed for $144.49.  Its prolly mostly a collector's item.  There are several items with Snap-On motifs floating around.  I have a Kershaw Blur with a Snap-On logo.  Several years ago, I received it in the mail and it had been poorly packaged.  The blade popped open in the envelope and exsanguinated the mail man.  There were drops of blood on my porch.

Isn't that Snap On's business model?  Put their name on something and triple the price, allowing you to pay in seven hundred and fifty two easy payments?

I didn't think they were that expensive. One of my mechanics have them.

Yeah. It is $179 new from Snap On and a lot of them are on E-bay for more than that. I looked.  I want one too, but it needs to be about $100 less than people have them priced before I'll consider reaching for my wallet.  The closest tool selection is probably the Pro-Scout.

Yeah, I can buy an MP400 and a can of red spray paint for a hell of a lot less than $180, even at Canadian retail prices.

spray paint

I have been known to spray paint a thing or two.  It is cheap fun.
